All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001) -
I think I read somewhere that the AFL will have told Gold Coast informally their decision about a priority pick although it won't be formally announced until the Commission meets next, around Grand Final week. I wonder if the decision will leak.
This article suggests it's a done deal: https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/09/...fl-assistance/. Initially they say "expected" but later they write "the AFL has decided they deserve the top two picks in the draft". This article has a similar conclusion: https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/08/2...7-other-clubs/. This article https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/08/2...7-other-clubs/ suggests the same: "All the rumour at the moment is that the AFL will say yes to Gold Coast’s proposal. Both Caroline Wilson and Cal Twomey have implied as much in recent weeks, two figures who work in different areas but both have their finger on the pulse. If they say it’s likely, I believe it."
So I think I am answering my own question that we can start thinking on the basis that Rowell and Anderson are going to the Suns. I'm happy for them and we are one of the clubs with a pick at the pointy end and so suffer more. (Not as much as Melbourne but their list is not their problem and they don't need Anderson anywhere near as much as the Suns.)Last edited by bloodspirit; 5 September 2019, 10:51 AM.All opinions are not equal. Tipsters unanimous in their predictions for tonight's game:
West Coast v Essendon @ Perth Stadium
Hard to see Bombers as anything other than also-rans, but who knows.
The other games are predicted to be closer, in particular GWS v Dogs, almost nothing in it:
Greater Western Sydney v Western Bulldogs @ Sydney Showground
Given how some in the footy media are starting to concoct the next Dogs miracle, I'd rather like the Giants to put them to the sword.Comment

Absolutely not! Don't want to see the over-entitled crew at Geelong having too much success this year, especially not Chris Scott. It's funny, I used to quite like Geelong but these days I would much rather see the Pies get a win (although not the flag). I quite like the players and coach - their punishment for being Pies is they have to deal with their fans and Eddie. That seems harsh enough. All opinions are not equal. Anyone think the Bombers are even a remote chance tonight?
Even though I don't think it will happen it would make me happy to see the reigning premiers knocked out :-)"Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." Beerman 18-07-2017Comment

And a Giant doing something similar: 'I didn't know how hard AFL footy was': Giant reveals mental health battle - AFL.com.au. Champion!
told of watching Finlayson practicing his kicks "around the corner" from the boundary line during the warm-up. Apparently he kicked
28 in a row thru the big sticks.Comment

I'd be happy for the Eagles to send them packing tonight!
Unfortunately, the fairypuppies are playing really well at the moment. That, plus the probability of pro-Bulldog umpiring means GWS are in for a tough time. Really hope I'm wrong though!
Want to see the Cats beat the Pies and don't mind about Brisbane and Richmond as long as either team beats Collingwood/Bulldogs should their paths cross!Comment

The truth emerges: Brad Scott was sacked and will have his contract paid out next year if he can't get another gig. When he left they made it sound like it was almost Brad's idea and that it was a mutually beneficial parting of ways. Doesn't sound like that now: Roos poach Demon assistant, who will report to younger brother - AFL.com.au. "North Melbourne has this year forced the departures of coach Brad Scott and general manager of football Cam Joyce... As it stands, North Melbourne must pay Scott the full worth of its 2020 contract with him, about $800,000. That amount can be mitigated if Scott accepts another job in the football industry."All opinions are not equal.
