That is terrible. He really has had bad luck injury wise. Is it the same knee he did before?
I don't think they recommend LARS anymore.Comment

On the shorter quarters - 16.5 minutes means less time on, which compounds the shorter quarter. It does not allow teams time to get back in the game and the endurance factor is taken out of the game. To me it has slaughtered the nature of the game and is pretty much a sanitised product. They might as well play AFLX.
After this round they should go back to 20 minutes otherwise people will turn off what has become a Mickey Mouse game.
It doesn't matter what game you are watching: you boil the kettle, get a cuppa and the quarter is over.Comment

We have absolutely no future and will be cellar dwellers for many years to come. How weak is Blakey? I am sure my ten year old son could push him out of the way, providing he does not slip out of the contest before hand. Imagine how bad we would be if we traded Papley to Carlton !! We Took one contested mark for the whole game. Just great.Comment

A silver lining to this is if they do decide to decrease the list size we won't have any trouble finding candidates to delist.Comment

LARS is still used for a variety of surgeries (eg augmenting gluteal tendon repairs or shoulder surgeries).
In this instance it wouldn’t be an expected long-term fix. It would be to allow a player who is potentially toward the end of his career which is severely compromised by another ACL injury to come back early (ie missing 6 months of footy rather than 18 months). It would be a gamble for the player and club but if there was no ready made ruck replacement it might give him a final chance.
The LARS graft as a primary reconstruction for ACLs is certainly out of favour compared to AJ, Malceski & Rhys Shaw’s time, but they are still used on occasion and in specific circumstances. To prolong a career of a player who’s might be almost over, by filling a need that could not otherwise be filled (no genuine quality ruckman currently on the list, no out of contract ones to recruit at seasons end and insufficient time to develop a future draftee) might be such a time.
For me the potential consequences might not outweigh the benefits, but then again, I’m not an elite AFL footballer whose career might be on the line.Last edited by goswannies; 26 June 2020, 12:16 AM.Comment

Naismith is terrible news, thans Goswannies for your professional input above.
Last week we were so good for the majority of the game, this week really ordinary for most of it.
Way too many players not doing enough, dropped some of them this week, a few more need to go next week. A number of solid types had shockers.
Very nearly tanking time, don't waste a non finals season by finishing mid field, go for a pick before Campbell, time to try different things, here's a few -
Hayward has lost all form as a forward after his great debut season, try him as a backman, it's worked for so many failed forwards. He's got footy smarts
Did the forwards have trouble kicking straight? Move Dawson to HHF/Wing so he can laser a few through the big sticks for us
Mills the U18 midfield star, try him in the middle, maybe, just maybe it's where he may blossom
Hewett is actually a very good midfielder, we've seen it, don't waste a good midfielder tagging, we have a gun tagger on tonight's emergency list and that's all he does well, so if you want a tagger use Clarke
Remember, things are never as good as they seem, things are never as bad as they seem. MC, please take note of what an AFL Legend said - DO SOMETHING!Comment

Although what are the odds for Longmire reverting to type and starting Mills back and Hayward forward next week?Comment

Here is what I would like to see
B: Oriodan, Brand, Rampe
HB: Ling, Blakey, Gould
C: Florent, Parker, Stephens
HF: Papley, Heeney, Dawson
FF: E Taylor, McLean, L Taylor
Foll: Mills, Sinclair, Kennedy
IC: Hewett, Lloyd, Rowbottom, Macinerny
At least try to change things up a bit.
That team is taking into account current injuries as well as what I think is the future.Comment

I love some of these changes and would add Stoddart to that list. When Knoll has recovered, I'd try him in place of Sinkers too. I'd rather give some real opportunity to potential players. We won't know if we have players (who are keepers) if we don't play them. The other option is persist with the status quo. It worked last week, but our team was ordinary at times last night. I hate that Cameron left and virtually walked straight into the starting line up of the Pies.
I would love to see Blakey trialled at half back. Get him more involved and around the play. He is a gun and we need to get him some through his second year blues. Hayward also looked ok in defence so would be worth trialling there at times.
So I’ll revise it to
B: Stoddart, Brand, Rampe
HB: Ling, Blakey, Gould
C: Florent, Parker, Stephens
HF: Papley, Heeney, Dawson
FF: E Taylor, Sinclair ( McCartin), L Taylor
Foll: Mills, Aliir, Kennedy
IC: Hewett, Lloyd, Rowbottom, MacinernyComment

I don't know why everyone is complaining, we are doing our social distancing. why do we allways appear miles away from our opponent. So much for our 2 recruits. Taylor and Gray. Put them away lets play stephens and gould plus any other youngster who is available. Better to have them some games no reserves,Comment
