Gone are the days when you can just be a ball winner / user alone. Perhaps to the detriment of the spectacle of the game, everyone has to be able to apply pressure and play defence.

Taylor’s second and third efforts were elite. ETs were non existent.

Haha well there ya go ! Good to know, I’d like to see L Taylor get another crack at it, great user and finisher. Does go missing though, and in a young side he needs to show more in the seniors. Surprising they didn’t reward him with a game if he played as well as you say. It’s not as though he’s old.

The article mentions Hardwick's back down. I would have been livid with the way the game was played too. In fact I was livid. It was the worst game of footy I have seen in 20 years. Maybe not as bad as the game against Grant Thomas' Saints in Canberra way back. But close. At least that day we were the ones trying to attack not the opposition. Horse's tactics gave us little chance of scoring let alone winning. But we nearly did win. Sad really. I'd rather not see a repeat of that match. Why not back the players in? He is all about negative and defensive tactics not about scoring. I am totally sick of it. I love the Swans but they are hard to watch atm.

So you agree with Damien Barrett and Matthew Lloyd and Hardwick? When others have since proven that Hardwick was wrong with his press conference assertion....
We were called 'ugly' about 15 years ago....turned out we weren't so bad. Not saying we are headed for success this year (we're not) but I think our style of play will change as better players return and with that, higher scores and better results.

OK. So why did they wait until so late to withdraw him?

What I want to know is who's name did Papley take off the board??

Sorry for screwing up the thread. I was trying to write that Horse's tactics v Richmond were not original, and there is now an accepted way you play them, which is keepings off when you have it and flooding when you don't.

Does it matter? Fox came in and got 3 of the coaches votes!

Cant stand limiting the damage, Freo did it for years, only looks good as a % in the ladder.

Id prefer to get pumped watching Stephens, Hewett, Mills and co chasing their own ball then get a 2 goal loss in a game you were never a chance

Homesickness, doubts about fitting into a professional environment I think. Seem to recall he was very high on the sheer talent scale.

Yeah nah. Getting pumped regularly leads to having a team that hasn’t won a final in 10 +years. Prefer we go out to win each week, even if it’s a grind . The ‘attractive’ footy will come. We have 9 players 21 and under this week. Some serious talent that needs a little time. I’d rather them striving to win each week then chasing kicks and playing for themselves and to hell with the result. A losing culture is hard to shake , see Carlton and GC of the past 10 years.

I wondered the same thing [emoji3]. Presumably someone who was in on the joke. Perhaps one of the injured ‘outs’.

One of the funny things is the nervous laughter from the players while Papley is doing his rant at Longmire.

It would be a great way to continue to honour one of our former greats. A bit challenging in our current climate though.
Great idea. How good would it be to have that as an ongoing tradition. Every home game.

                            We should do it.

That is because with Joey our mid set ups are predictable. Not his fault just the way he isxused
