???? JORDAN DAWSON JOINS THE CROWD CATCH ??

Yesterday we said Episode 14 would feature our first-ever special guest - and that special guest is Jordan Dawson!

The Sydney Swans young gun chats to the podcast about hub life, the increasingly competitive young Bloods and his rise as an #AFL footballer. And he even takes part in our beloved 'Who's taller?' trivia segment! Jordan is a great young bloke with a very bright AFL future and we loved welcoming him on.

In Episode 14, the boys also cross to the world of the #NRL and debate whether the current make-up of the top eight is locked in. Meanwhile, the auctioning of Michael Jordan's $615,000 shoes has caught James' eye.

    Enjoy that and plenty more!

Updated news.com story which reveals GF stayed 8 hours with ET before being caught. They both will be fined by WA police but will escape criminal charges. ET apologises for his actions but claims he's been receiving racial abuse (via social media I assume). Includes Longmire's comments from his press conference yesterday & possible club sanctions:

If there were to be a pattern of indiscretions, like any other player, he won't last. As Longmire pointed out, many players, some of them champions, have made very foolish choices as immature 19 year olds. Very judgmental and authoritarian to wipe him out now.

I still remember Byron Sumner's first game - quite stunning and looked to be a real star.

As I recall also an indigenous boy from WA.

Disappeared without a trace mid season after 1 game with, as I recall homesickness

The world is in the middle of a pandemic. Lives have been ruined and many people have died. He deliberately and intentionally elected to ignore the rules relating to this pandemic and put a whole competition at risk for his personal gain.

This is a guy blessed with an opportunity that 99.999999% of people don't get.

I guess some of us consider this more serious than others.

I’m not sure the club would be thrilled about the GF doing a TV interview. She Doesn’t seem to phased about it all either. Did apologise though.

I also don’t think ET should be cut without getting a chance to prove himself and earn back the trust and respect of the group.

It’s not a normal year, and it’s not a normal incident. The incident, without the pandemic, is not an incident at all. That doesn’t excuse it by any stretch, it was immature and selfish. But he wasn’t violent, wasn’t disrespecting women, didn’t break any Law that existed prior to the pandemic, wasn’t caught using drugs, etc etc. In many ways what he did was worse because of the unprecedented circumstances we are living under, and in many ways it really isn’t. He’s young, selfish, immature and lacks some life skills, but none of these things say to me he should be delisted, not without a chance to learn and repent.

Care to elaborate on someone having a vendetta?

I can't find one post on here that backs that up.

Sure, what you say is all true. The thing about opportunities is not everyone is going to take them, let alone make the most of them.
Not everyone (and probably hardly anyone) has got their head truly around the pandemic. And you don't even need a pandemic for
some people to be doing stupid stuff that endangers themselves and others.
I think young people can struggle a bit when moving to Sydney from much smaller places. It's not for everyone. It is a while ago
now but everyone else I went to high school with in Tasmania who moved to Sydney or Melbourne after finishing school returned
"home" within a couple of years.

I wonder how much Channel 7 paid her for the interview. Enough to cover all the infringement notices, quarantine costs etc?

Fair call. I think he will stay in WA and not go to Cairns. I think he will have a strict regime of counselling and fitness provided by the swans (presumably comes out of the soft cap as well) that extends over the entire break. He will then present to preseason either having changed physically and mentally or, as part of the performance plan be let go. I would add in my view this opportunity would only be extended to him because of his talent. For a grinding rookie he would just get cut.

I think he meant the club....it's not all about you....but I have noticed a distinct lack of empathy from you that has me wondering just where it's actually coming from. Just sayin'.

This ain’t about me but can’t say I have ever caused a $50k fine, incurred the wrath of a state Premier, bought trouble to any company I have worked for, put an AFL season in jeopardy or deliberately broke quarantine laws during a pandemic. All after a special prior warning from the club.

If he did it accidentally or naively I would be empathetic. But he didn’t.

You do know that it’s ok if people have differing opinions to yours...

I had forgotten all about that story. Which led me to read this article, it is very good and I think illustrates the problems that can occur for some younger players.
