My opinion, but the Goodes saga period was the a turning point in my views on Australia. Before Goodes I have the view that Australia was "not perfect" and a bit racist around the edges. After Goodes I have been convinced Australia has deep engrained racism that is easily exposed when you scratch the surface, and none more so than the efforts (or lack of efforts) from AFL HQ.

It takes a lot to change your view that that, so I take a very strong objection whenever someone tries to excuse them with a "despite the terrible treatment of Goodes". Dont say despite, and if you do call it what it is... "Despite the horrendous racism against Aboriginal players, in particular Goodes,...."

You'll have more chance convincing me Epstein is not a pedo than the AFL is not racist.

Agree that Australia is very racist. Won't take dictation from you thank you very much.

Barry, you know you won't find anyone on RWO more anti-racist than me. I was the first to vociferous speak out after the Adam Goodes incident, calling it an unequivocally racist act. And I agree with you about the level of racism in the AFL and Australia as whole.

But it doesn't do any good to label the treatment of Elijah Taylor racist when there's no evidence of that. Covid breaches have been committed by AFL associated people from all backgrounds and levels of experience. They all should have known better. There is going to be variation in penalties for Covid violations, just like any kind of rule or legal infringement. Maybe when all the evidence is in and can be reviewed, we might find there was some racial element to the penalties, but right now I can't see it.

+1. Don't appreciate intemperate attack on me for holding a reasonable view.

Luke Parker says all that needs to be said:

‘He (ET) came out yesterday and addressed the group and we really want to put it behind us. We've got to take his word for it – he apologised – and we want to make sure we move forward, and he needs to learn from this situation.’

Young Swan Taylor has to 'earn respect back from the group': Parker

PA whacked with $50k with $25k suspended and $25k off 2021 soft cap the same as Sydney. Ladhams 3 weeks and Houston 2 weeks. Probably fair enough as they only broke AFL protocol and not SA govt protocol while Elijah broke both AFL and WA govt protocol. With PA topping the table and almost certain to play finals the impact on them is far more severe than on Sydney who are almost certain to miss finals. Ladhams and Houston are part of top 22 while Elijah is not so all in all a much bigger hit to Port Adelaide this year than to Sydney. Just maybe the message will finally get through some thick skulls in the AFL that the rules do apply to them.

The NRL with the Broncos and Wayne Bennett who actually helped write their rules is no better in getting that message out than the AFL.

Bennett very arrogant and was at least not allowed to coach for 2 weeks unlike protected species Buckley.

I don't buy it that port players should get lesser sentences because the team is winning.

I also don't buy that ET put the AFL in danger of a covid outbreak than the port players, and probably less since his girlfriend had already quarantined.

One rule for some, one for others.

I hope that the club makes ET serve his suspension with the team in their respective bubble and pushing him on the training track.

Why, he's already serving the harshest penalty in the AFL already. Are you some sort of sadist?

‘Taylor will not travel with the Swans to Adelaide and Cairns after this weekend's game against Fremantle, with the club deciding it would be in the teenager's best interests for him to remain with family in his home town of Perth.’

Swans say Taylor needs to earn back respect Sydney youngster Elijah Taylor has apologised to teammates for his costly quarantine blunder.

Thanks Meg. Tom Morris on Fox Footy last night reported that Elijah will be retuning to Sydney when the club moves to the Cairns hub, but did mention he would be would spending a bit of time with his family in between.

It's really a beautiful story. Risk. Capture. Punishment. Elijah gets back with his GF. Money, Ridicule. Loss of Job. Loss respect from you workmates. Elijah givea up everything for Love. Yes, a lovely story about about a young man and a woman and how Love Conquers All. Heartwarming and tearful. I can't wait for the movie.

Well I hope it doesn’t become an Oscar Wildean story like ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’.
