Fair points but our kicking selections were horrible. We must be the worst team at telegraphing short kicks. In the last quarter Bell kicked inboard to a player who had opponents both sides of him within a couple of metres. Blakey's kick to Bell was a waste and Rowbottom to Hayward running to the boundary was even worse. All 3 kicks at least should have been deep into the forward line. On short kicks, I'd love to know how many we had. Our blokes played a sterling defensive game but provided little run from defence.

Yes, and this year, it's even more difficult for injury ridden sides like us, to develop sharp teamwork, because with the coronavirus training restrictions, training has been divided into separate forward, midfield and defensive groups.

        - Stephens tackles well and doesn't panic
        - Much improved from Florent
        - Kinda feel we might see Buddy next week.

Does anyone else think that the ball has no consistent bounce on that ground. So many times we had the run of the ball only to see it go sideways, backwards and over our heads.

Not much to like about that. Did we drop a spot on the ladder? It might be the only positive.

Dawson was one I could have mentioned, always reassuring to see him with ball in hand.

That’s a point I consistently make when commentators bring up the “lowest score“ point regularly. I fear the record books won’t put an asterisks next to these scores, however.

Did get me thinking, also, how long did games last at the beginning of the VFL when scores were always low?

Regarding Hayward running to the boundary line, to me that should signal that he is taking his opponent away from the centre contest so that Papley would have a better chance of finding someone in a less congested centre but Papley tried to kick it to him. What do they do in their practice drills!

now that you mention it, it did seem unpredictable. thought there was a few goals for the taking but the ball would sit up or veer at a right angle, instead of tumble forward. it's not really part of australia. the water spirals the wrong way down the sink i've heard.

Have you ever posted a positive thread ? We know we are going to get these results this year due to our young list and Covid preparation. I think the coaches have things in check and the club knows what is required but it will take time.

We just aren't playing anything remotely like positive footy and tactically we seem bereft. Lack of structure forward of the ball, no dare to take the game on and not changing anything up as the game develops is all squarely on the coaching staff.

Hope to see some sort of positivity in the last quarter and to at least go down swinging.
I agree totally. The game plan today was to negate their negative tactics. Makes for a truly horrible game

All we did was negate that pressure. We did nothing about bursting away from that pressure. Every tactic invited that pressure. The extra at the ball was inly to negate their advantage through Fyfe and Mundy. We Wee being destroyed at stoppages.

There wasn't any positive attacking moves. Instead of defensive I would have put an extra on the wing

The pressure that Freo applied affected our game and they worked hard when we had the ball to run and man up. But I agree we didn't use the corridor enough. Maybe Freo set up so we couldn't use the corridor. It's hard to tell watching the game on the tv. The other thing I noticed was that when we had the ball there didn't seem to be any movement further up the ground. This happened a lot last year too.

-Thought Blakey is going much better in his new role. 4 clearances, 15 disposals, 417m gained. They are a hard side to play against and were better than us.
-Swans won the inside 50s 43-34
