Tough decision, but I trust the club to get something like this right. Hope the young fella gets his life together and earns another chance elsewhere, but probably least of his problems right here and now.

I hope beyond anything he gets his life on track and gets through this. But by gee - quoting 'cancel culture' as a reason for this.... really
The only outcome really the club could come to for mine - and the right decision."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

"This is certainly not a position we have arrived at lightly, however Elijah’s actions could not be reconciled."

Yes I do blame the cancel culture for such as spineless decision. In other days you where punished for your crime and did your time. If youth was on your side and you had a clean recorded, you had the chance to rehab. and prove yourself. These days its just take them out the back and put a bullet in the back of the head. Case is not closed in my eyes.Comment

From my perspective, the cancel culture related not to this crime, which is abhorrent, but to the hypocrisy and shutting down of reasoned debate. It is ok to discuss what should happen to Taylor. It is ok to have different opinions. It is ok to raise apparent double standards. It is plausible the club could have suspended him for a year. Taylor will do time, be sanctioned by the community and then he should be given the opportunity to lead a normal life. What sort of society ostracises people for life with no chance for recovery? What sort of people stand at the head of the pack with stones in their hands. And no, I am not defending Elijah' actions. I just think it is important to see all opinions and let voices be heard. I don't understand why this thread would he locked out shut down.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

Surely you can see that? Where do you want to draw the line? A one-time murder?
ET needs help, no doubt. But it is not our club’s responsibility to do so, just because he was on our list and played a few games. His rehabilitation is totally up to him- no sympathy from me: only for his victim. Can you imagine the effect this could have on her life? Come on Crackerdactor- get your thinking right and do some serious soul searching!Comment

Not turning up to training and having to be picked up by Kirky on more than one occasion = Strike 1.
Deliberately breaking covid curfew = Strike 2.
Convicted for beating up your girlfriend twice = Strike 3.
You're out!
This is a Football club not a rehab center.Comment

I suspect our recruitment strategy must be under the microscope given the knowledge we had prior to choosing ET
The info shared in the media re ET prior to the draft.......there appeared quite a lack of alignment to our core values at the bloods prior to recruitment"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Satire Alert!
Poor Martin Bryant. He got 35 life sentences + 1035 years without a chance of parole. What kind of society do we have here in Australia? One bad day at the office and you're screwed for life.Last edited by Ludwig; 1 December 2020, 10:20 AM.Comment

The only extent that I agree with cracked actor is that Wayne Carey has done worse, has repeated offences yet is seemingly allowed to carry on with a media career like it never happened.
I don’t think ET has a place on our list but neither do I want to see Carey lauded for anything - he’s a piece of @@@@He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Wow.....Of course I'm not perfect but I'm sure moving on from this pettiness.Comment

Seems a strange decision to give him No 37 when he arrived.
He was pick 36, now even allowing that he had some baggage and was really a pick 25 on skill alone, it seems odd that you would give your clubs most valued number to a troubled 25th pick level player.Comment
