Why are the playing for Essendon? How are they allowed to? Is this because we have the bye??

For the same reason that we have eleven Swans named in the Giants VFL team against Brisbane today. Neither the Giants or Bombers have all of their VFL players up at the Gold Coast and would be unable to field a team without borrowing players from other sides.

Will need to cheer for the Giants in the VFL today as there are more Swans named in their side than Giants. Pretty weird situation but that is what it is with Covid. Interesting to see who ends up actually playing as basically all the Giants and Swans AFL emergencies have been named on a huge extended bench and they will not all play.

          5. VFL Top Up Players
If at any time a VFL Club’s Senior list of players becomes insufficient for that Club to select its Senior team, and the Competitions Manager is satisfied that the lack of availability of players is caused by reason of illness, injury or other exceptional reasons, the Competitions Manager may in respect of any given round of VFL matches, allow the affected Club to temporarily draw upon non-listed players over 18 years of age, to be called "VFL Top Up Players", to be registered and to play for that Club for one week only. Payment for such players can be determined by the VFL Club and must be included in the VFL Club’s salary cap.

Not that we’ll be watching with the main game on around the same time but the replays will be there and maybe there’s time at half time

Ends up with nine Swans playing for the Giants. Clarke getting a ton of disposals in the first half.

What’s the story with McCartin does he have to go into the draft or is he a delisted free agent
The Essendon fans on their big footy board are getting a little excited over him

McCartin is a DFA so can just be added to any list he agrees to at any of the DFA signing windows, that is, if we want him, we just add him.

Roseby a Swans academy player got 29 possessions for Essendon today, anyone know his story, available as an academy selection this ND?

Pretty sure that he's this year's crop, as he's been selected for the current Allies squad. Due to all the covid interruptions to the last couple of academy seasons, my knowledge of the current crop is fairly sketchy, but he seems to be a pretty accomplished user of the ball. Bit of an in and under possession getter, although probably on the smaller side.

From the bits and pieces that I've seen of the academy games, my favoured midfield prospect is Anderson, who's got a bit of grunt to him. However, I'd rate both as maybe late in the draft or rookie spot. I think both have probably done enough for at least a VFL contract.

Clarke has had a great season in the VFL for us but it seems that his cards are marked as not being worth another senior game?

Can’t trust his skills given our game is now based on slick ball movement. He also takes an eon to make a decision with the ball.
