The unfortunate thing is: he thought it was awesome, high quality and would bring fans in. When I mentioned the uproar on RWO he said we probably aren't their target audience! Don't take it personally, but . . . . . . . get better mates

I'd like to request a certain Angels song for the marketing department that brought us this "Game Day Experience" - it'd be good, the whole crowd could come together and share their feelings for the marketing prats.

Actually he's a very high quality mate and person and a devoted Swans supporter. I wouldn't trade him.

Ahhh! Thunder Shaker, had to smile as your comment brought back fond memories (late 60's) of playing on Reid Oval at Warrnambool. Parents, family & friends parked around the ground watching keenly & tooting horns when the W,bool Blues scored. The background noise was birds and chatter, no loud speakers. I know I'm an oldie, but how good was it to have a game at the SCG on a Saturday afternoon in glorious sunshine. It doesn't get better! Go Swannies.

I'm guessing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again

For me it's not so much the songs or even the volume, but the feeling that every single quiet second has to be filled with noise, to the point that interaction with the people around you is barely possible. That's what they need to address.

It's not just the swans that do Fan Engagement. Being in Melbourne I get to see different teams home games and they all have their own version of fan engagement. However, the issue at the SCG seems to be the volume. From what I have read on here it has been an issue for a number of years. And the last game it was worse because of the music after every goal. (I have to admit I did enjoy hearing Oooh Errol through the tv. )

Hopefully the club listens to the feedback.

              Puhleeaase.
Having also received the standard form response, I got the same feeling, and it did rankle. Anyway, I asked that our little duo be moved away from the speakers in the Brewongle Stand. It might be loud, annoying and contrived everywhere else at the SCG, but the Brewongle Boom Box is intolerable.

The youngish blokes on AFL exchange were also complaining about the music after goals and wall to wall noise at games this year.

However I'd have to question if anyone found Saturdays 'entertainment' as entertaining. Does anyone think corporate sponsors yelling at you while baby shark is blaring over the speakers is a good time?
Totally with you here, longmile. I also feel the club is taking the true footy tragic for granted with this; they figure we’ll still turn up because we love the game and club. They might be in for a bit of a shock. Although I wrote my initial post on Sunday morning, I actually had ear pain until yesterday. From any health and safety viewpoint, this cannot be good. Ridiculously, my mate and I spent some time discussing what ear and hearing protection we’d need to attend games in the future. Crazy.

One thing i agree with is the individualised songs for each player. Wtf? Doesnt make any sense and i didnt even notice that is what the SCG was going for with the exception of Errol Gulden. What song is gonna play if Kennedy kicks a goal ? The US national anthem ?? Stupid.

You are completely entitled to your opinion about the noise, the football and the players, but the sanctimonious attitude about the Northern Hemisphere is a bit out of place. Spare a thought?? I have many relatives and dear friends in both Europe and North America, and I can assure you, that not a day goes by without many thoughts, and direct communications, passing between us. I’m sure I’m not alone in that on this site, either. We’ve achieved an amazing feat in this country, and a few others have managed it too, but don’t think for a second “we lot” don’t appreciate that.

i could swear that it was a privilege for us to be at the SCG on saturday and yet the last however many pages have been dedicated to nothing but complaining about some music. Dont mean to be harsh but cmon cut the club and the grounds staff some slack

Love this idea. Imagining Paps jumping and crashing through a windscreen as opposed to taking out a bunch of spectators.

TB, it's a lot worse than 'complaining about some music'. Just for starters, it's not music, it's a bloody cacophony that drowns out even the crowd's applause. It is so intrusive that you really cannot carry a conversation. The people bellowing over the speakers are largely incomprehensible. The whole experience is so unbearable that I frequently switch off my hearing aids and subside into quiet. I have lost an important aspect of the game, and until this thread got going I was seriously contemplating staying home and watching the TV.
I was pleased to get a survey questionnaire from the AFL that gave some space on the noise and I eagerly wait for the response.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

sorry you feel that way. I repeat that it was a minor inconvenience for me. if you dont like it then you would hate basketball. MC screaming into a loudspeaker non stop. Noise doesnt bother me. I dont go to the footy to carry conversation. i go to watch the game. we had a good one the other day but come on here and you would think we lost by ten goals and are trying to distract ourselves by focusing on the noise !
