I don't know what to make of Bell. The coaches must see something in him because he has been sub 2 weeks in a row.
We only used 67 interchanges which I found interesting especially after a 5 day break. Maybe it was the frenetic pace in that last quarter and a lack of goals made it hard for players to come off.
We definitely need goal kicking practice this week.Comment

Great learning experience tonight hats off to Essendon they did their homework and we were forced to revert to the kick it long along the line more than we wanted with Essendon closing off the corridor really well.
Reid probably BOG for mine and the young brigade will be the better for this game.
Essendon played an almost Swan like game with their pressureComment

Given that we were down 25 points in the second quarter, Essendon's pressure was superb and they shut down our quick ball movement, it was a good win. Sometimes you just have to win ugly. Some of our youngsters were pretty quiet tonight but fortunately the more experienced hands - Parker, Mills, Hickey, Reid - came to the fore. It was a good reality check for us.
Cox for Essendon looks like a future star. NAB Rising Star next week.Comment

No they don’t. It’s classy and professional. I think the coaches should be wearing suits as well. Get rid of the polo tops and put the coaches in some pin stripe Suits. The coaches should be aiming for Harvey Spector from suits. The cameras are on the coaches, they should be dressed for success. The big European Soccer coaches wear their suits and it looks fantastic.Comment

Always satisfying to beat the Bombers at the SCG. Not sure if it was an ordinary game or just felt that way because of our conversion.
Young guys didn’t have great games like previously but tried hard and mostly worked through it. I agree with Bell looking very slow.
Blakey really does my head in. I guess he must do some good things but bloody hell his clangers are out of this world.
Buddy looks different to me this year. Obviously hasn’t played much footy but he seems fit enough but not nearly as agile or mobile.Comment

Was always going to be a danger game, so thats a good result, especially since we had a five day break vs Essendon’s twelve.
I thought Reid had a fantastic game. This might be blasphemy, but I think he’s an improved LRT. He’s never going to be a great ball user or goal kicker, but he provides a contest and brings the ball to ground, or better yet, marks it.
He took some great grabs today and was generally pretty good in attack and defense.Comment

I went away from the game feeling a little flat. I wanted Don Pyke football, I wanted 120 points and the ball zinging through the corridor. I got an old school Swans boundary line battle.
The Ist year players looked tired. I was calling for them to be rested and you can see that 5 day breaks are tough for 19 year olds.
I have to give “The Bloods” his due. Justin Mac was suberb, particularly in the last quarter. Kicked a great goal and passed a key pass off to Franklin.Comment

There was some discussion about how we could get a key forward in the draft when it looked nearly hopeless that we would get either Mcdonald or Thilthorpe. And Cox was the player that a few of us thought we should arget. That was when it was projected that Cox would be a late first rounder, not a pick 8. It looked too hard a get at the time, and then Adelaide and North played their roles and we got the one we really wanted. That said, I agree that Cox looks a very good young player.Comment

Great win. I predicted a one point win - so many factors pointed to a danger game.
When Essendon got to their lead in the 2nd it seemed like it was going to be one of those days. But to reel it in and prevail was sweet.
At the ground I thought Blakey did some good things so I’m not in that camp. I’m optimistic on his trajectory.
Not sure if A M Tippingwuti is out of form or he was well held but we win that match up.
Warner is so promising - I mean he is contributing like a 100 gamer after only 6 games.
Seriously good times to be a swans fanComment

Still kicked three goals through football intelligence and experience.Comment

Thought Essendon were very well coached and played pretty well. When they got up 43-18 in Q2 I was seriously worried.
Impressive performances from Reid, Ollie, the Chad (whose pickup of a ground ball at almost full pace was a thing of beauty), Parker, Hickey and plenty of others. Particularly in the last quarter when our will to win was greater than theirs.
Thought our defence got smashed, particularly McCartin. Hooker too old and wily for him, but I’m sure lessons learnt.
Not sure how much of our performance was the 5 day break and how much the Bombers coaching, but I’d start giving the odd player a rest even with the 9 day break.Comment

I was amazed as he’d looked too good for Francis just before that.Comment
