Regardless of if he learns how to defend consistently or not, we can't carry Melican long term with his kicking skills.

How many times can sydney players take marks and not he paid.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Pretty average football, I have to say.

We had that stolen by the umpires. Pure and sinple. Disgraceful

Their is a new rule I had not heard about - umpires can guess who takes a mark when it is touched by multiple players. The other one is you can hand the ball to a team mate - that used to be a throw.,

Very disappointing apart from Buddy and Hayward. Slow, tired, the Sydney Swans of old on display tonight.

Losing Hickey was unlucky, but we need to be able to adapt. I’m sure the younger players will learn a thing or two from this so all is not lost of course.

                  OUT for GWS is significant:
                  Coniglio
                  Davis
                  Whitfield
                  De boer
                  Lloyd
                  Kennedy

Very good effort considering also their kicking GWS was so aweful

Wonderful game by Buddy and Hewett

A lot of learnings from that game. An important one is that Melican is at best a third tier depth player. His reading of the play is..absent. his disposal is horrible. Turning circle of a super tanker and basically incapable of marking the ball. If Gould can't get a game in front of him then Gould must be a write off already.

We should’ve held on but hey , 4-1 , who would’ve picked that at start of season with games against lions and tigers ? Not me. Giants also missed a fair few gettable ones so there’s that. We looked a bit tired at times tonight. The winning goal , our posturing was terrible. Anyway onto next week and surely a win against the hapless Suns

Umm ... thought Hayward was fantastic tonight. You need to have a little optimism my friend.

Lloyds mental lapse to not even try to follow Josh Kelly just cost us 4 points. The kind of thing that wouldn't happen with Rampe there.

I thought we lacked a bit of composer tonight. towards the end Western Sydney we're just getting the ball too much.
certainly could have won maybe should have from the position we were in but unfortunately just didn't play well enough

I'm disappointed with that loss ?.

The loss of Hickey really affected us because we then missed Reid in the forward line. The only target we had was Buddy. Reid going off with the blood rule didn't help either.

Too many times we allowed the Giants to move the ball easily from defence to attack. We can't allow teams to do that.

So looks like Sinclair will be back next week. I wonder how Buddy pulls up. I think McLean will get a game for either Buddy or Logan.

It was an awful game that both teams deserved to lose. Looked like a fight for the wooden spoon.

Terrible umpiring and insipid performances from most of the players. And I had a feeling that Mummy would injure someone which would be the deciding factor.

I suppose it shows how hard it is to string winning games together with a young side. But it wasn't only the kids. Very disappointing from Melican and Hewett. Our defence hasn't been going well even before the loss of Rampe. We were depending on our midfield kicking to provide inside 50s. But now that's gone, so we have to find something new if we are going to push on this year.
