RB listed to come back in reserves. I know of a certain RWO poster who would be pretty happy about that!
Changes for Round 5: Swans vs GWS

Obviously taking a pretty cautious route with Rowbottom - I'd say they are still not 100% sure he will get through A okay in a match sitaution - hence taking a sensible route to give him a game in reserves, as if he does pull up sore etc, it ultimately matters relatively little if he is withdrawn.
Otherwise, changes seem relatively sensible if one is looking for 'like for like' replacements for the outs we have. Hope Melican and Hayward play well and take their chance."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Agree, with these 2 coming in it says to me our depth is not what we think it is. How can they pick Hayward over Stephens. Stephens has way more upside.Comment

You stop Haynes, the ball gets locked into the Swans forward line and the Swans defence is protected.
Can “The Bloods” or someone make a case for why Stephens is this amazing player in waiting apart from the fact he was a top 5 pick in 2019?Comment

Thrilled for Will & Lewis to get their chance. And it is a chance. Two whopping inclusions in Isaac and Dane in the next month if all goes well. The 2s lads have limited time to make their cases!! Use it well fellas!!
Rapt for Blakey to be shown some good faith. He is hard done by by some Swans supporters. He is developing. There will be bumps in the road that is for certain - what kind of message do we want to send our young Swans if we eject them from the senior squad when the going gets tough?? He will reward our faith - I am sure of it.
Young Dylan will get his chance. I can understand the eagerness to see him! He is an exciting talent!! Love his run and dash, his elusive quality! Tough, smarts. He will be a fine young player. I have all the faith that being kept in the reserves a while longer than expected will NOT hold him back!!
Quite shocked to read some doubts about the club's approach to Jimmy Rowbottom's injury on the Twittersphere! Spoke to a well informed source this evening at an MCC function that the plan with Jimmy from the medical staff at the Swans was always going to be a return vs Gold Coast at Metricon. Bone bruising is unpredictable and the recovery varies from individual to individual. But the standard time is about 3 weeks. They left the possibility of an earlier return open on the off chance that he healed sooner than expected. But the club earmarked round 5 as a return to full training after exactly 3 weeks of recovery, in time for a hit-out in the newly-commenced VFL competition. With the senior return coming the following week in round 6. The aim is for him to get through 4 quarters. They want to know that he is able to handle that work load and recover from it in reasonable shape as that would be the expectation if he plays in the seniors! However if there is any pain at all they will pull him. So I suppose it is very much a watch this space where his knee is concerned. BUT the club have been careful and strategic about this. They value him highly and the aim is to have him in the best shape possible in the second half of the season. They devised the best plan for this to become a reality and young Jimmy was part of this process, so don't feel too sorry for him nor blame our medical staff for their treatment of him! They know what they are doing!! Our players are in safe hands!!!
& credit to Rowbottom himself i might add! Not surprising he is itching to return but has been transparent about the extent of his pain. We all admire bravery and courage but equally as courageous is the call to know you are not at your best and there may be someone fitter who can contribute more!
Cheer squad, I hope ya'll embrace the "3! 0! Let's go!" chant that i heard wafting through the stands at the G against Richmond. Let's amend it slightly to say "5" instead, shall we??
Cheer cheer!!Last edited by NeonBible; 17 April 2021, 03:04 AM.Comment

As for the Hayward inclusion, I ca't see why it's being questioned, he's played extremely well negating Haynes.
Melican was needed because the Giants have Riccardi, Himmelburg and Finlayson (in addition to Toby) as marking targets. So unless we were going to move Sam down back permanently, and he's needed as relief ruck atm, we needed the extra tall.
Giants have included Reid, along with Mummy, it may get a little rough out there.Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 17 April 2021, 09:29 AM.Comment

Haynes played mostly on the wing last week and looks slated for the same this week. So we may not get the anticipated (by some) matchup of Hayward tagging Haynes this week. Hayward plays similar to Heeney, so his inclusion this week is the most logical. We just have to see if Hayward can improve his output and consistency. I don't he's as far off the mark as some others do, while agreeing that he hasn't quite lived up to expectations. We don't know how much injuries have affected his progress. He's been wearing a knee brace all year, which indicates there is some problem he's trying to control, although he doesn't seem to be hampered in his movement.Comment
