Nice article from Josh Dunkley a couple of weeks ago: AFL Josh Dunkley Western Bulldogs - 'I hit rock bottom' after fan told me to jump off West Gate Bridge after Sydney Swans loss in 2018 (espn.com).
Round 6: the other games. ANZAC round.

All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001) -
At half time when Jason McCartney gave his tirade to the umpires,it was reported that the free kick count was 12 - 4 in favor of the Western Bulldogs, but at full time the count was 16 - 15 Bulldogss way, viz; 11- 4 in favor of GWS. As it turned out the free kick count didn't affect the result and whilst I try not to place much credence on the count of frees received the cynic in me finds it rather odd with the turn around of frees given and received from the first and second halves. Is it coincidental that following the tirade that the umps found the Bulldogs infringing in the second half.
I am not inferring that the umpires were biased and that GWS lost because of umpire decisions. As we experienced in 2016 grand final, a lot of decisions didn't go our way, but what irks me most with umpiring, are not the frees given (for in the majority they are correct) but the inconsistency with rulings and the non paying of obvious free kicks. The Swans supporter in me has felt very aggrieved with the odd calls that have gone against us, but not as much as the ones that aren't paid. Hopefully this umpiring inconsistency will improve particularly when we play the Bulldogs and West Coast in Perth.Comment

It's just proves that the umpires have a natural bias, probably not intentional, but definitely there.
On another note, why the love for Nathan Buckley as a coach. He's had a job for 10 years at the richest club and won nothing. The statistical odds of him wining a flag, with any team, is near zero.
He just not a premiership level coach.Comment

Why Matt Rendell "can't see" Nathan Buckley coaching Collingwood next yearComment

You have to admit that Bucks has come pretty close, in fact, just 1 very good kick by Dom Sheed from winning a premiership.Comment

It is amazing that Collingwood have traded out Treloar, Stephenson, Phillips, Bosenavulagi and their 2021 first and second round selections plus are paying $300k of Treloar's contract and yet are still unlikely to have enough draft points for Daicos without going into deficit for 2022 or unloading yet more players. Grundy, Moore, De Goey, Pendlebury and Adams and especially Cox must be way overpaid. Cox can not even make their team ahead of Darcy Cameron who we gave them for peanuts.Comment

He hasnt.
He's like a poor mans like Ross Lyon. He managed 12 years, 2 grand finals. But ultimately no chop. Ross coach severely disadvantaged clubs compared to collingwood.Comment

They did. But he still thinks he's running the show down there.
I think the post Eddie/Bucks era will be a lot like the post-Sheedy era at the bombers. They had to cut ties to move forward, but there will be a few bad years ahead, as various actors try to enter the power vacuum.Comment

I don't understand the issue with Port Adelaide wanting to be able to wear the prison bar guernsey once a year. Yes it has black and white stripes but it looks nothing like the Collingwood guernsey.
I saw some footage from Footy Classified where Kane Cornes showed a document that was signed by Eddie stating that Port Adelaide could wear the guernsey once a year during "heritage" round. There is no longer a heritage round so they can no longer wear it. Eddie said he had knowledge that the heritage round was going to he abolished. So basically he only signed the document because he knew it was going to be a temporary agreement. How come he had insider knowledge but Port Adelaide didn't? This looks very suss.
David Koch was asked why don't they just wear the guernsey and he said that the AFL told him they would lose premiership points! He wasn't happy with the favourable bias towards Victorian teams and said it's the AFL not the VFL.Comment

The prison bar guernsey is a part of Port Adelaide’s long history as a club, a history of which long-time Port fans are very proud. As also shown by the quite emotional ‘Never tear us apart’ rendition before home matches.
What possible reason (other than sheer pigheadedness) can the AFL have for not allowing Port to wear the guernsey once a year in the Showdown, when there is no hint of a guernsey clash?Comment

I totally agree.

It only a clash if used when Port play Collingwood. Port should be able to wear it whenever they want otherwise. I personally love clubs acknowledging their heritage and I lament that many younger fans have stuff all knowledge of their clubs beyond the past decade. Collingwood and their former President have a far too high opinion of themselves. It’s not an anti-Victorian thing. It’s an anti-Collingwood thingComment
