More trolling.....would be refreshing to see you actually contribute in a positive way to this or any thread.

Well, that's real tough talk.....but the question posed has not been answered and it is relevant, unlike most of your comments.....why do you only turn up here when we lose to regale us with your relentless negativity? Is that your idea of 'contributing'?Comment

We kind of new this was going to happen in the pre season. We have a lot to be excited about, but we aren't there yet. We're going to have patches of inconsistency, and burn out.
Don't look at the one isolated game - look at the progression of players within it, and the trajectory we are on.
Warner is a good example. Huge future prospect.
But, unfortunately, so are Hayward and Melican. Haywards last two weeks are the case against him - glimpses, but can't bring it together. And Melican, well, others have already said.
When you take out so many foundational players for a young team, this happens.Comment

Great post.....lets hope a certain 2 other posters read it and take something out of it and actually learn something, instead of portraying relentless negativity and bullying of players they don't like. Refreshing when people show growth, boring and downright annoying when they refuse to (out of spite).
Well said, Stevo.Comment

Bit of a reality check for our young Swans.
We were beat up around the ball even though our midfielders got a fair bit of the ball they were pressured heavily and lots of scrubbed kicks forward . I don’t think I’ve seen Parker get caught as many times as he did yesterday.
Delivery to the forward line even when clear (perceived pressure) was atrocious. I’m really surprised Paps really didn’t loose it .
We looked flat , tired and off the pace .
The ball fumbling really does my head in . Is it just me or does Sinclair always seems to fumble it
When Lloyd and Dawson couldn’t hit a barn door you know your in for a long day
Anyway we are a young building side so I’ll look at the positives
Warner really growing . Miller really torched us first qtr . But I thought he done a great job of matching him after the first qtr.
Mills like the idea of him starting mid and floating across half back if we are under the pump .
Kennedy just gets it done will go down as one of the all time greats
Next week’s selections are going to be interesting

Harsh on Parker......36 possessions yesterday......just a bit off in effectiveness but his level of effort cannot be questioned. It would take a brave (and silly) man to drop Parker.....and Lloyd for that matter.Comment

I think the GC game is the reality check about where we are in terms of our rebuild. It's going to be a while before we can consistently impose our game plan and style, week in, week out. Injuries, fatigue and form drops are all going to be an issue and as a developing side, it will take time for us to have the depth to cover. One just had to look at the amazing depth Richmond has had over the course of their success as a marker of what is required to be a flag threat. It's no coincidence that they are struggling more this year given so many of their depth players have found new homes.Comment

When we are going poorly, Parker tries to create play to lift us and sometimes calls for the ball when he shouldn't or takes on the tackle at the wrong time. Should keep it simple in these circumstances but his endeavour and intent are always spot on.Comment

Why do we bother with Mclean still ? We know what we get from him every time. Doesnt take Nostradamus to figure out what some of these players are. Hayward , Melican have nearly the same games every week with a few good ones sprinkled in between. Just not good enough. McLean not much better. He's a trier but he isnt up to the level. Why not give Amartey a go , lets look at some of these players on the list whats the worst that can happen ? We lose ? We picked the safe options against GCS and got flogged anyway !

so after a performance like yesterday you dont think there's anything to criticise or be negative about ?
In regard to your question, of course there's things to be negative about. We lost. I'm just not into attacking the same players week in, week out. We had 22 players in service yesterday.....most did not play well.Comment

So we're going to replace three players with one? Got any more replacement suggestions from the squad we have?

Are you seriously suggesting Parker is at risk of holding his position? He and Kennedy are the only two players who ,every week, give everything. It is disgraceful to imply otherwise.Comment

There are 4 or 5 players who get regular games for us who i dont think are up to it and they fail to do enough to convince me otherwise. I am not a stubborn old man like you think, i didnt have Sam wicks in our top 22 players before the season and didnt know why we were giving him a go over others. He performed and has shut me up. Havent had to mention him since. Time for Hayward , Melican McLean Rowbottom and Blakey to do the same and shut me up.
I've been far from satisfied with the play of Hayward and Melican.
Hayward is only 22 yo, has a lot of talent, but hasn't quite put it together on a consistent basis. He's still young and has time to develop his game further. Perhaps he will get dropped many times before proven he's an automatic selection. Maybe it will never happen.
Melican has only played 48 games in 7 seasons, so he hasn't strung that many together to achieve the consistency required, mainly due to injury, but sometimes due to form. In yesterday's game, he connected with 8 of his 9 disposals, but his one on one defending wasn't too good. In his defence, he had a tough assignment in King, who is close to unstoppable on the lead. I don't know if Melican will ever reach a level where he's capable of guarding someone like Ben King.
I feel McLean is too slow and lacks agility, but works hard and is a capable mark and kick for goal. He's still a work in progress. Sometimes players can forge a career off effort alone.
I don't mind Blakey trying things from his bag of tricks. He's not pulling off enough for my liking, but he seems a smart kid and I feel he'll work it out. Eventually I think he will come to dazzle the crowd.
The selectors are faced with problems every week, trying to decide if someone in the reserves has done enough to warrant a call-up, as well a who from the seniors needs to go back to the reserves to improve his game. I don't think it helps a player's development to play them like a yo yo, bouncing back and forth between the senior team and the reserves. It doesn't do much for the continuity of our game plan either. I prefer to give players a fair stretch of time to settle in and get up to the pace and level of the game.Comment

Unfortunately Hayward has been forced to play taller than he is most of the time . He seems to play his best as a 3rd or 4th forward . The boy has super talent but he simply needs to find away to get it more . He has time on his side , but the questions are on his motor . Hope he gets it right because the boy has super talent , but talent only gets you so far . Those credits are running out fast
