Fortunately he/we were saved by the siren.

I expect Rowbottom will get plenty of positive feedback from the coaches on his overall performance on Saturday. And also some advice about that very last (non) play.
Even if he knocked the ball out of the contest there was not time for a player to kick it off the ground. There was only a second on the clock. When the ball was thrown back into play there was 6 seconds on the clock.

One of those weird ones where after the first 2 players, the coaches had no common players.
Always intriguing to see how the coaches see it. Did Selwood get a vote for his brilliant 'where's my free' routine in the last quarter that got them a ridiculous call on the boundary line. Rohan had a couple of great goals but really did stuff all otherwise.

I like these player ratings although each week I'm disagreeing with the assessments a little more: Player ratings: Sydney Swans vs Geelong Cats, Round 7, 2021.

I found the rating on Lloyd very interesting. There were some things in there that I hadn't noticed or realised, nor did many others based on the comments:

Did not lose a single one of his 15 defensive contests, astonishing. His ball use at times not as good as his contest work, but definitely benefitted from having McCartin and O'Riordan in the team. Laid 4 tackles too, his 8th-best career effort

Also, I know Wicks hasn't won much of the ball lately, but his impact from his possessions is considerable.

Well, that's AFL umpiring these days. No idea. Give 50m penalties at a crucial moment in a grand final? Why not? Technical free kicks awarded to key forwards right in front of goal? No problem. Tough luck Geelong, it was your turn to cop it, but you can be assured you will get it back. Hopefully not against us in a final.

So, I'm assuming that he didn't count that ridiculous penalty that was paid to Close as a loss. Quite right, too. God knows what the umpire saw there, but I don't think anyone else saw it.

I would recommend you watch the rest of the game. He was brilliant and is a bright part of our future. How do you dismiss his one handed mark, one handed pick up at full speed, great goal in the 4th, etc? Unless of course you have a personal vendetta against Rowbottom or you love casting lures.
Last bit is right. He throws out the chum and tries to lure people in. Don't Bite.

That kick was nowhere near 15m, but Rowbottom was probably holding the ball. To me it looked like the siren went before the umpire had a chance to blow the whistle. So the Swans earn another famous victory at the SCG. Great effort guys.

At 14.41 in the first qtr Gryan Meyers kicks a goal for the Cats from a kick that Richo reckons didn't go 15 meters. Does that even it up?

Agreed! Very impressed by young Henry however, great pair of hands!

That was amazing wasn't it? He basically dared the ump not to give it to him (and then had the gall to throw the ball to Cameron after!).

When the siren sounds the umpire blows the whistle and raises his arms. He could hardly blow it twice then award a free kick.
