Very solid win, the blues were on at stages and looked good. Building a solid season to date.

Great 4th quarter and well deserved win. It was very frustrating at half time. I thought we looked good, but things weren't falling our way. We were moving the ball as well as any team in that 4th quarter.
- Brand did a good job on Casboult who has only a couple of marks and contributed nothing.
- Hewett played very well in the 2nd half. Deserves to be in the side if he continues in that vein, but still feel he's better playing in them midfield.
- Dawson played well again, but got some bad breaks from the umps.
- Heeney in AA form.
- Will Hayward has a standard now to live up to. He played and excellent all around game. Good marking, good kicking, 2 goals and tackled well. Also made the right decisions. Maybe he's arrived.
- Very solid game from Florent.
- First class game from Cunningham.
Biggest take-aways for me were Brand and Hayward.
Brand is a genuine tall at 198cm, so there is a spot there for him to take. Showed good poise and contest, and decent kicking. Optimistic.
Hayward's decision making was excellent, which has been a developmental area, obviously. He has been marking and set shooting well all year. Agree, signs it's turning for him. With Heeney (who was outstanding) they provide important outlets down the wings and then marking targets forward.
Nice to see Wicks bang one through, moment of catharsis for him.
Papley has become such a smart player. Also heart and soul.
Credit to Sinclair. Well beaten in the first half, but kept at it and probably was the best ruck in the final quarter.
Another big effort from Parker; led the team in clearances (8), goal assists (3), score involvements (6).
Eleven tackles from Rowbottom - he averages 7.9 a game, which is fourth in the competition.Comment

I don't think he got him in the sweet spot. Looked more about the belt line. It is a normal reaction of a man to go for protection with his hands. He got up straight away and ran away. A fine is appropriate for that dumb act. Heeney paid the price for a dumb act and I have noticed he has been far more focused since his return. Can't afford to have Mills suspended.

IMO Will Hayward's best game. He was prepared to run hard through the forward line and to lead up for marks. Lets hope he can now string those sorts of games together.Comment

Saved me having to type it all out.

And on tackles, we won the tackle count 82-53: which I think was a major reason why we eventually wore them down. And as far as I know, tackle counts don't include, all the times that opposition players were tackled, but weren't penalised, after just dropping the ball or throwing it away. I think if we had got more of those frees, then the tackle count would have been even more lopsided.

Reid and Melican are a perpetual baton change blunder; didn't they both get injured in the same play 2-3 years ago?Comment

Well that went ok, unlike my day.
Lost my mobile somewhere between mum's nursing home and my place (not in the car, which was the only place I went).
Because I NEED a phone, I had to go get a new one and missed out on the game live in person. (Boo hoo, indeed.)
Just finished watching it proper. Touch and go till the last quarter.
Happy with the win and points.
Is it just me, or do we win more often when Horse sits down on the bench.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

For whatever reason I haven’t really rated Lloyd as strongly as others over the years (even though he was clearly winning the respect of the coaches with his performances in the BSM). Perhaps I felt he gained his possessions too cheaply or wasn’t particularly dynamic with them. In any case, I too have been singing his praises this year. He seems to be both more attacking with the ball and more aggressive with his defensive efforts without it (at least in the way that I have noticed). It has been great to watch.Comment

My son is learning the ropes. When he bats in cricket he talks to the umpire at the non-strickers end. He is friendly and engages in a positive way. When he fields at square leg he chats to the square leg umpire. When I asked him why are you always being friendly to umpires he said “if the umpire likes me I will get the 50 / 50 call in my favour”.
I think this is a lesson for all sports players. Engage with umpires in a friendly and respectful way and you will win more 50 / 50 calls.
I remember having drinks with this guy in Perth who umpired in the WAFL. At the Cottesloe Hotel, these WAFL players were yelling at him, giving him crap and making holding the ball motions at him. Do you think these obnoxious smart arses are going to win the 50 / 50 call when there next on the field?Comment

Some of the commentators thought there were some questionable decisions against the Swans. Despite this perception the Swand won.

The two Dawson 3rd quarter in the back decisions were 50 / 50 calls that went against Dawson. The Parker non-mark in the goal square was probably a 70 / 30 call not given to Parker.Comment
