Speaking of Gil, good old Caroline Wilson is savaging him at the moment. While justified , it just happens to be at the same time Richmond is "at war" with the AFL.
She'd be much more respected if she wasnt a Richmond mouthpiece.

And an AFL mouthpiece when it comes to the crunch. Protector of Mclachlan and Demetriou over the years and fed many stories by them. Toer of the company line ultimately.

I see Wicks has been fined for an incident on Weitering. Does anyone recall it and could point to the time in the game?

Wicks pressure has been impressive all season, and I would be interested to see what has been ruled 'unacceptable'.

It might've been during the argy bargy he was involved in throughout the match!! He will be a regular fine-target over the course of his career i think heh...

It was when he tackled Wietering over the line in the third or fourth quarter. As he got up he pushed his forearm into Weiterings head. No significant impact but enough to get a fine. Having seen Sam play as a junior he nature is to be very aggressive but not dirty. He was always small but way tougher than the other kids.

Wicks' fire is a valuable commodity in a team which has lacked a bit at times in recent years.

I agree. I like Wicks' attitude and competitiveness. He does not take a backward step! I think he will continue to improve as well.

There is appreciably more 'tood in the Swans swagger these days than there has been in days of yore - don't mind it as long as it's backed up with tough competitive footy.

Another bloody good game and in the end a good win over a team that I think actually does more things right than it does wrong - it just seems to really pay the price for what it does wrong. The Blues will win a few more games before the end of the year I reckon.

But enough of them...great response from our leaders, and plenty of great cameos. Heeney played the game I thought he was going to play last week against the Dockers - he is so important for us. Ripper game from Harry against a wonderful opponent. Jordan Dawson hadn't touched the ball at qr time - his second half was excellent.

I know we're only meant to look OWAAT but this does set us up very well - if the games were played this weekend, we'd likely start favourite in all of our last 6 games, and there must be a chance that several of those sides will have done their finals dash by the time we play them, Top 4 finish is not as ridiculous as it might seem.

I was clapping as loud as blues supporter on the weekend after the one hander. Special to see it live, and better on replay!
The infamous Royal Wedding clash was 10 years ago - that's the night I fell in love with Eddie. Kicked 3 goals in 5 mins in the 3rd qr up against Nick Smith - I can remember whole seasons when Smith didn't have 3 goals kicked against him! All this while it didn't stop pi$$ing down but you couldn't help but admire Eddie.

Wicks was fantastic in the 4th quarter. He works so hard. He never stops. His skills are really good too. It's not just his running and tackling. That goal he kicked was a great connection between Warner and Wicks. They did it like a couple of 200 gamers. Very slick.

Why don’t forwards run in and kick for goal like Carey, Dunstal or Lockett. Run in straight, use drop punt and kick through the ball. It seemed to work well for those guys.
If you are trolling BS (i have taken the bait again) or perhaps you are genuinely starting a conversation, i think you need to ask a few questions before such then vs now statements.

Why dont they still do place kicks or drop kicks or stab punts? Why dont golfers still use wooden woods? Why dont we use match stick thin cricket bats anymore? It's called progress. Dont be one of those lost in the 80's kinda guys (like every 2nd commentator).

Current players are athletes and have run 5-10 times as far as the Dunstalls & Locketts have when kicking for goal. If a study is done on goal accuracy with snap kicks vs drop punts in the current climate of skill level i will bet snaps are far more accurate.

Eddie would have whispered it in his ear.
The whole "special terms" to Buddy's contract, after it was approved as a "normal" contract, were at the behest of Eddie.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

You have seen Ben Brown take a set shot, haven't you?
He runs back to his defensive 50.

OWAAT sounds good to me at this point. Still a long way to go.
