Odd quarter. I thought Donlon got Carlton going, then the other umpires evened it up later on.

Umpires must have been made aware of our displeasure it’s now 16-15

Why we keep waxing the footy instead of moving it forward quickly is perplexing. That Florent to Mills to Florent late in the quarter got on my goat.

One more thing: why has Carlton got a loose player sitting in the guts as the go to player.

And another: Kennedy is doing some strange things.

We need to give more to our fans at our home ground. Let's go ballistic in the second half. We are playing catch up footy at best.

What an odd game of ebbs and flows. Quite enjoyable to watch so far - although frustrating too.

Fancy if one team or the other manages to put an entire quarter together they'll win fairly comfortably.

We should leave McLean off in the 2nd half even if we have to play a rotation down. He's a detriment when he's on the ground. The other option is to play McLean in the ruck and Sinclair to double team McKay. There's no point playing another tall up forward. Carlton backline will just intercept the high ball.

Hewett is not a defender. Maybe he can go into the midfield and tag Walsh.

The Swans are not playing as badly as the commentators say. We just have a few weak points. Losing the contested ball the way we are is embarrassing. We should really be doing better.

We have too many passengers so far - they need to lift if we are to win. Maybe give Papley a run the centre square as he is struggling to impact up forward?

We've done a good job stopping their defensive run.
Hayward playing particularly well. We need to kick to him and Heeney more up expose their weak defensive unit outside of the two key defenders.

Our backline is bleeding. Some good desperation late in the quarter, but we allow scores far too easily from ground balls inside our back 50. Lloyd tackles like a turnstile.

That free against dawson to Cripps was just staggering.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Umpires have a tough job, but they need to be aware that players dive forward to win in the back free kicks.

Nice that Hayward is kicking straight again.

Another free to Cripps for dropping the ball in the tackle.
