    Seriously?

Terrible news about Sam N by the way.
Agree with both those comments. Sam a tragedy. Bell I just don't see what the MC do, must have photos!

It will surely be a tough slog - it is cold and wet. We might be a bit tall but who knows

I think his physicality and two way running especially in wet weather is such a plus
I was at the game against St Kilda last weekend and was watching him keep warm at the quarter and half breaks as he was the emergency ..he’s such an impressive physique and I’ve watched him a few times ..he’s been chosen as Medical emergency more often than most
I rate him and apart from what he already provides to the team ..he’ll improve game by game and year by year ..he’s still developing
He just comes across as having a low footy IQ. Seems to run around alot but doesn't seem to do much. To the point where it's not clear exactly what sort of player he is. Is me a midfielder, pressure small forward, run with tagger???
As always, happy to be proven wrong and perhaps tomorrow night might be a bit of a breakout for him.

I don't like to disparage players but I am in agreement with the majority of the posters above regarding the selection of Bell. I truly hope he proves me and others here wrong.

I think it just takes time to make the right decisions at pace in AFL and I’ve seen improvement in him
As for the physical side of his game he tackles and leaves them tackled and applied great pressure
Anyway it doesn’t matter what I think and obviously only matters that Longmire and the Mc rate him based on match and training amd what they see

I think they are giving Bell every chance to prove himself at AFL level. It would be great if he could make the step successfully as another Academy product. There are question marks over his ball-winning talent but wet conditions may suit his strong body.

Who? Blakey and Stephens may fit that category, but reasonable to develop them further in the seconds at this stage.

I agree. I don't think Bell was the best selection. I would have preferred Taylor. But Bell has been gradually improving and I don't believe we've seen the best of him yet. Perhaps the thinking is that he needs more AFL time to accelerate his development. One thing he's always had is a good sense for goal and is always a danger inside 50.

I like Bell. I can see him developing into something like our version of Mitch Robinson. Which is a good thing.

Ridiculous that Taylor was not selected, he is a far superior player to Bell at this point in time. You don’t need to be an AFL coach to see that

Bell may come good in time, but at the moment he’s not ready for senior football

I totally concur with your comparison of the two one being at the more advanced development
Mitch Robinson is one of my favourites and thats probably why I also rate Bell
I’m pretty sure Mitch wasn’t knocking doors down at Carlton but look at him now

Where is Stephens? He could play as an outside midfielder to replace Warner with other midfielders doing more inside midfield roles.

I don’t understand the Bell selection at all.

                            Stephens must be miffed.

The Swans are making it easy for a South Australian team to scoop up Stephens.

Why would Stephens stay when guys like Bell are picked ahead of him?

I agree with you from the point of view of Bell. However, I think Stephens has really dropped down the pecking order. His lack of physicality at the contest and subsequent inability to win the ball consistently is a real knock on him. I see a bit of this even at the VFL level. Dyl needs to get some mongrel in his game.
Squizzy on the other hand has been killing it at ressies level and is clearly the form midfielder for us in the VFL. He could not have done anymore to warrant a promotion and I think he would be pretty miffed by his non selection.

Since when did Lewis Taylor become the most popular player at the club?
I've watched a few ressies games this year - he's not fit enough and burns the footy. I'd happily take Bell over him in to this game, as I think he has the potential for a higher ceiling. I'm not optimistic about him, but he has a better chance at surprising us.
