This case for a Tasmanian team might be of interest.

Ps: I used to work with the author of this piece. And was lectured in economics by his father in Adelaide years ago. His Dad was a footy fanatic and still played into his 40s. So footy+economics burned brightly in the family.

AFL not complete without Tassie. List of champion players from there astounding.

Since Ludwig's moved to Thailand where its cheap, he actually owes us (the #barry-archy foundation) backpay of his previous allowance. This looks like its heading for the courts. Anyone know an international lawyer ? Good or bad, doesnt matter.

And collingwood antagomism budget has greatly reduced since Eddie and Bucks left, and they are rubish. The stated goal of not letting Buckley win a flag as player or coach as been meet. This unit can be disolved until further notice.

Australia owes me bigtime for my contribution to the welfare of the nation, especially my critical analysis: What the Ruck is Wrong with Australia.

The fundamental problem if the economic business case is not there, is that the AFL has a history of removing assistance if it doesnt pass the "level playing field test", as defined by powerful victorian clubs.
Take COLA as an example, or academies.

So if its worked out that Tassie will need an extra $2m per year for ever, just to compete. Which is fine by the way, you can guarantee that if tassie taste a bit of success, it will be under threat for not being a level playing field, and if its removed, they will struggle for then on.

Wasnt that book banned south of the barassi line, and the young christain democrates had book burning cerimonies in the 1970's? I always thought chapter 2 where you made the case that Jesus would been a very ordinary ruckman, and he was better off playing on the half back flank (ala a modern day Zak Williams) was going to ruffle a few feathers in the establishment.

I was quite surprised about the controversy the book elicited. As you correctly point out, it was Chapter 2 which was the instigator of it all, merely because I conjectured that Jesus couldn't jump well enough to be a ruckman due to the poor muscular development in his legs from spending too much time walking on water. Those Christian Democrats are a sensitive lot, but lets not get too politcal.

Speaking of great australian literature, I have heard from a very reliable source that the draft version of Christos Tsiolkas's 'The Slap' as sent to publishers was actually called the 'The tap' and was based losely around the career of Tom Derickx. Apparently the editors didnt think it would cut through to the general populas, and asked for changes.

Its always been in the back of my mind that if he had only based it on a more established and popular ruckman like Calum Sinclair, it would have had a world-wide audience and really set the kindle world alight. It could have broken the Amazon servers. Oh well, we'll never know.

Hopefully the author would be able to spell Sinkers first name correctly throughout the book. But Barry I really think you
need to focus on the AFL CEO job now that you have it. You can write your own book when step down from the position
in 2051 and pass the baton onto Ludwig. He'll have the umpires reading chapters from "Das Kapital" before the first
bounce at games as part of the Match Day Experience and all teams jumpers will have red in them somewhere.
