Whatever one says about Longmire as a coach (less so from inside our supporter base - but many outside it don't seem to rate him at all), there is zero that can be said against him as a man. An absolute class act, as he continues to show week in, week out. The way he handled the Buddy mental health issues a few years back showed the man he is, and willingness to stand up for his beliefs - and so many times since he has shown it again and again and again. There are plenty in the footy world I'd love to have a beer with and a chingwag, but Longmire would be definitely vying for the no 1 pick.

It was sort of fair-ish that both sides lost key players one hour before the game yesterday.
I don’t think it’s fair that we’ll potentially miss Mills and Harry again…
So in the interest of “fairness” (which the AFL were big on last year) I think we should be able to choose two Freo players to miss this weeks game.
I nominate Darcy and Mundy.
Where is the game being played BTW, surely NOT GMBHA?Comment

Does anyone know which Swans staff members are involved in the Covid quarantine order?
Longmire said they were now working with a skeleton staff lineup (can’t remember his exact words) and they had no fitness staff at all. It wasn’t clear to me if he was saying this was a result of the quarantine order or perhaps as well as that plus only a limited number of staff went away with them in first place.
I didn’t see McVeigh in photos yesterday. Did others see him? Does anyone know if any coaching staff are now in quarantine?
You can see McVeigh singing the team song here, top left-ish, squashed between the beanpole McAndrew and I think Charlie Gardiner. I can also see Dean Cox, Brett Kirk, and Jeremy Laidler.
Can anyone spot Don Pyke or Ben Mathews?

Thanks Markw.
I was quite moved by Longmire’s tribute to the players AND to the staff for the way they have responded to the Covid challenges they’ve faced over the last four weeks.
We (or at least I) tend to focus on the players. Nobody more than John knows how important the staff are to our performances.
I hope Longmire himself stays well!
We have a magnificent club full of magnificent people!

Well done Ugg! You beat me to it!Comment

UGG, Don Pyke was there, in fact he was at the entrance greeting the players at the end of the game, close to JL, and had a great big grin on his face. He is our not so secret weapon with our playing style and obviously infectious (pun) with his desire and appreciation for our players. Go DonComment

Re the three players and four staff, here's the inequity of it:
Because our game got moved to QLD, we (and GWS) get stung by their treatment of that level of exposure. Apparently, though, because St Kilda and Rowan Marshall stayed in Victoria - same exposure, but different isolation requirements - which was get tested, be negative, away you go, keep playing.
Well, I say screw it. We're clearly now a galvanised group led by a great man in Longmire and they can throw their best at us.
To me, yesterday's win sits up there with the 2003 win against Port Adelaide in a final, or the Geelong win in 2011 post the death of McVeigh's daughter, or other moments of up yours Bloods footy. I get GWS had the same challenge, but after the jump they got on us we could have gone too hard. Not this group.
Let's stick it up them all.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Coaches votes in:
8 Luke Parker (SYD) (5/3 (I reckon) or 4/4)
8 Tom Papley (SYD) (5/3 or 4/4 (I reckon))
5 George Hewett (SYD) 5/0 votes (I reckon we gave Hewett the votes because we were better placed to appreciate his contribution)
3 Harry Perryman (GWS) 0/3
2 Justin McInerney (SYD) 2/0 or 1/1
2 Josh Kennedy (SYD) 2/0 or 1/1
2 Lance Franklin (SYD) 2/0 or 1/1All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

What a magnificent win, another astonishing chapter in this delightfully surprising season!
I for one had given up the ghost half way thru Q2 - GWS were out-running, out-tackling and out-kicking us. It was unrelenting.
For this young team (and a few brilliant older heads) to turn it around in the circumstances they did was quite extraordinary. And we don't see our coach manifest such public displays of emotion very often, so it helped give a sense of just how extraordinary it all was.
So enjoyable - I don't know how much longer the journey can go on for but I'm going to love being with this magnificent crew every step of the way!Comment

it was announced on 360 the other night that they are wearing them for rest of the season - it’s bringing us luck.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
