That reply took much longer to surface than usual.
I wonder if the selectors simply think a half fit Rowbottom is a better option than your preferred alternative?
Could it be he is being selected because he is doing what the match committee ask of him.
Maybe, and this is going to hurt TB so you may want to be seated when you read it, Chad isn’t actually as good ( yet ) as you tell us he is . Hmmmmm time for the conspiracy theories.Comment

The Swans admitted it was a stuff up. They intended to keep him on the rookie list and the AFL had changed the rules.
Sure Fox isn't an elite KPB, but with McCartin and Rampe he's good on the 2nd or 3rd tall and provides much more attack, rebound and run out of defence than MelicanComment

Bangalore and TB- you guys just don’t get it! Rowbottom is the coaches pet, that’s why he gets selected. They all know that he’s got no talent, can’t find the ball, when he does on rare occasions he butchers it, gives away countless frees, and is too slow, can’t kick more than 10 meters, etc, etc. He shouldn’t be anywhere near a Red and White jumper and isn’t good enough for our Academy!
Whereas Chad- why he would be contending for the Brownlow and the Bobby but for his unfortunate injury!
Give me a break, fellas!Comment

Yes, you’re right about the stuff up Longmile. The thing is Melican needs a few games to get up to speed, if you forgive the pun, though he can be quite quick. I think that may be the reason he was picked this week. Robbie has been playing a lot so a rest may be welcomed. I still maintain that it will depend on the matchups to decide who plays next week.
He is like a racehorse who needs the first few runs back from a spell..
Those first few runs back though he looks like he’s in a comedy caper running past the action on skates that can’t stop and shoot on past or not being able to turn around quickly on a five cent piece ..he seems to be far better after a few runs
He also tends to over punch at times even when no ones is likely to spoil his marking
Here’s hopingComment

I actually agree that Melican always takes a few games to look half decent at his role ..and then he gets injured unfortunately ..

McCartin as our main tall. Hence the Pelican.Comment

You’re describing Bambi on Ice, Joey- I think that’s a bit harsh! But I know what you mean. Trouble is, who else have we got to play on monster forwards? It’s unfair to expect Ramps to fill the role week in and out, and we only have
McCartin as our main tall. Hence the Pelican.
Wish we already had the other Mccartin for that role ..
And why couldn’t Reid play in that same defensive role permanently ..as another option instead of Melican..
Why does he have to compete up forward with McLean or Amartey
I assume they would do that but they want Melican fit and in form with games under his belt and they may still use Reid permanently down back if Melican doesn’t work and if Reid doesn’t take over and that them leaves Reid as backup for everywhereComment

It’s a bit of healthy debate.
The forum is also debating Melican v Fox and everyone is cool with that.
Chad v Rowbottom is another healthy debate in a Swans fan forum.Comment

I am asking nicely , dont bite my head off
Surely it is common sense that Chad is the better player . I am assuming it is common sense , swans fans are smart people and that relates to RWO as well . So ok he might not be fit enough . Neither is RB though apparently . Everyone mentioned he was on the bench most of 2nd half last week so ok they are both unfit . Why wouldnt you play the better player then ? At least give us every chance possible to win , even if its with a young fella who needs to be managed ?? Doesnt make any sense to me , but again im asking nicely not trying to start anythingComment

Countless posts have provided statistics facts educated insights and various opinions as to why it is so but still you continue to ask the same question over and over again. I can only assume that this will continue until every other member of this site relents and tells you they agree with you and you are right.Comment
