    Hi mcs,

I still see a way in for Warner..

Joey will hopefully be ready next week.. he will either replace Rowy, or.. if Rowy earns his spot, it could force Hewett out of the mids back into HB, and O'riordan might be the casualty. So that is Joey's spot taken care of - on notice are Rowy and O'Riordan

But there is also a spot in the fwds.. Wicks has had a quiet few weeks, Campbell also needs to continue performing as he is not quite cemented his place yet.. though Chad is not quite in their mould if the MC feel like Chad can do their role better, that is a possibility..

So Chad will be eagerly watching all of Rowy, O'Riordan, Wicks and Campbell in the hopes that 2 of them are dropped to make way for he and JPK. However... how great would it be if all of those boys can perform and hold their spots?? Well.. one of them will definitely have to go for Joey, unless there is an injury.. but it's certainly not a bad place to be if we can't fit a talent like Warner in the team!!

If i had to bet - which i am against - i would say it's likely Rowy won't be fit enough to put together the kind of game that would hold one of JPK or Chad out.. and Wicks and Campbell are also low-possession players who might be one quiet game away from being dropped for Chad.. So i would assume the changes for the first final would be Rowy, Wicks/Campbell out .. JPK, Chad in ..

That is IF we are lucky! As last week proves.. you never know when the injury curse will strike!! The pleasing thing is we have such a resilient group that i would give us a good chance no matter what the circumstances!!

Why? They play different roles. RB is going to be replacing Kennedy on the inside. Warner can't come in and play that role currently.
Comparing Warner to any player that isn't in his role type is just wrong.
Florent is more outside and a more skilled user. McLean is a KPP.

Warner probably lost out to Campbell on the last mid/forward role due to timing. And with him building back up his running, it's fully understandable not to be risking further re injury if he hasn't got the games under the belt.

All fair points Neon - my point being it would be a big call now to bring him in for his first game in seniors since Rd 12 (when there has clearly been opportunities to slot him in over the past few weeks in terms of injuries/personnel changes at the seniors levels), not that there isn't an obvious way for him to fit into the side. Plenty of machinations as you suggest - although I'd be very suprised to see him thrown into the forward line.

And I'm most definitely not suggesting he isn't getting picked because the match committee don't see him as best 22. Makes you wonder if there are other injury concerns that we aren't privy too that might see them either holding him back, or nervy with picking him. Who knows.

I think Fox is severely underrated in defence. Hopefully he comes back next week, he provides great drive off half back to which is needed in absence of Blakey.

Also there must be something up with the Chad?
I think Fox is pretty stiff to drop out, but fancy we probably feel we need two genuine tall defenders in September (rightly or wrongly). I like Fox mainly because I think he is a very decent 1 on 1 defender, and I do like his ability to play tall as such. I wonder if we might see Campbell back a bit to provide some of that long kicking/drive off half back this week. Will be interesting as there are definitely a few questions that would be good to get some idea of answers on in the last regular game of the season.

Is Chad in the emergencies? If he is in the emergencies or is the medical sub I would be very irate.

People on here will say they back the selectors and that’s fair enough.

I agree with TheBloods that if you can play Rowbottom on one good knee, unable to properly train during the week and only putting together one half of football a game then you can play Chad.

Why does Rowbottom get the chance to play injured but Chad is not given a chance to play given that he has played some reserve minutes?

It's not Melican who is replacing Fox but rather COR who is taking his place for this week, probably to give COR some game time as he is the first injury replacement in defence. It gives us more options heading into finals.
We can select a good 22 side from 25 to 27 players. That's the key stat for me, not who is selected for this game.

Because that is what the selectors have chosen to do.

You can be as irate as you want, but that is their power and their choice - and I assume they are not captured yet by your cult, and therefore are allowed their own free will to think and do as they collectively decide to

Yep it is I believe. Very well done - has really developed well and found his niche in the team. Perfect example of a footballer that took a fair while to nail down his spot, but has been a true Mr Dependable the last few years now. Good stuff.

You can cut the selections a few ways. Arguably COR is replacing Blakey. They are different players but both currently in the "HBF" bucket.

Lloyd is then back into defence (as more of a defender than Blakey or maybe COR), which gave the selectors the choice of losing a tall (Melican) or a medium (Fox). They kept the second taller defender in.

Chad can absolutely play inside role , wouldnt be full time anyway with Mills Parker Hewett sharing the load . Would do better than RB and i think we all know that otherwise his non selection this week wouldnt be a talking point .

Do we think this, except for JPK, is our finals 22? Or they are still experimenting?

TheBloods, if Rowbottom is as bad as you say he is then his performance on Saturday afternoon will speak for itself and he will be out of the team.. in all likelihood REGARDLESS of how he performs, he will be out of the team.. he's in the rather thankless position of being a placeholder one week out from finals.. The arduous ordeal that it apparently is watching him every week will be over for you after Saturday..

So for now, can't you just lay off him?? Or at least just acknowledge his efforts this year to front up in nearly all of our games this year under challenging circumstances and give his all, despite the lack of ability that you believe??

We don't have to do anything of the sort I'm afraid. We merely have to accept that a decision was made by people who are either far smarter than we are when it comes to the team, or have more knowledge about the players and are privy to information that RWO are not; and most importantly we - despite some of our inane conjecturing - have absolutely no impact on what the selection committee decide to do. Pointless, repetitive prattle is just annoying. Just watch the game, enjoy it if you can, and comment to your hearts content after the fact, win, lose or draw.
