Very puzzled with the Fox omission. I thought he could be one to fill Blakey’s shoes as a running half back.Comment

Anyway, it’s all good because I’m confident Chad and Rowbottom will be part of our premiership window. Apparently.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

He’s right. Rowbottom is apparently playing a bit under duress. Horse apparently said so at a press conference. Apparently this is public available information. Apparently that was obvious to most people on here for a long time, even people who like Rowbottom. And someone apparently wants to still query this. And never mind, because the match committee can apparently make informed judgements about it.

Yep. I can’t see what he was doing obviously wrong so maybe they’re going to push Dawson back to the role, albeit the trade off is even better foot skills (though Blakey’s kicking was very good) for bit of a drop in pace and kamikaze dare.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

What may it more weird was the Sydney Swans posted a photo of Chad training on twitter. If he is going to play in the finals he definitely needs a hit out first. Cannot understand the Swans team decision to leave him out.Comment

It’s like saying let’s choose Blakey because he is best 22 even though he is injured or for that matter Kennedy. Ridiculous argument for the sake of an argument.
None of us sit on match committees or are privy to health issues. All we do is speculate. Obviously I am not talking about the people here who are experts who just seem to know EVERYTHING !Comment

Changes for Round 23 v Gold Coast Suns
I think all the selections make sense.
As it is Melican and Fox shouldn’t play in the same side - the preference seems to be to go small (Fox) if we can get away with it, but better to give Melican another run in a dead rubber game I’m case we need him during the finals.
I think Reid is straight back in next week, but strategic to hold him back and get another game into McLean in case he’s needed. Have the option to play McLean for longer in the ruck as that workhorse type as well if we want to put Hickey on ice at any point during the game.
I like the idea of Warner as the sub through the finals, like Parker in 2012 - still think it would have been an idea to play him in the 22 this week to guarantee him a run.
It’s a shame re: Blakey but I would have been nervous about his defending against top teams in the finals, albeit he was giving some x-factor to break games open.Comment

I'm suprised they haven't gone with Warner, but I'm comfortable in the knowledge that by far the best judges of whether he should be selected are the coaches and the selection panel. But it would now be a big call to bring him in for the first final off no really serious hit outs.
I don't necessarily agree that Reid is necessarily straight back in for the final - given his tank, if Mclean can have a good game on the weekend, he might do enough to hold Reid out (The trade off here is McLean's ability to run hard with a big tank vs Reid's versatility in terms of being able to go back if need be and be a spare man, and also his experience too). But I lean towards him quite possibly being a back in for the elimination final unless Mclean manages a 'must pick me' performance this week.Last edited by mcs; 19 August 2021, 09:54 PM."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Agreed. Melican is too slow and unskilled to play in a finals side.
I think Fox is severely underrated in defence. Hopefully he comes back next week, he provides great drive off half back to which is needed in absence of Blakey.
Also there must be something up with the Chad?Comment
