Let's just calm the farm a bit here and look at it from this perspective. Mills obviously put his hand up for selection so what are the MC to do? Add to that the thought that if he goes down this week that he would probably go down next week....in a final. That would be worse.....so they were giving him the chance to prove his fitness and he may have failed that test. You may argue that another weeks rest may have had him cherry ripe for the finals but again I will go with the opinion and judgement of our new and improved rehab/fitness team which has done wonders all season in keeping our entire squad basically injury free....over a fan with hero worship and a bone to pick with all those who dare to disagree with him, ie: I think they know what they're doing.

Dawson is just our of sight this year. He's a legit AA.
Heeney's field kicking has been Dawson-like the 2nd half of the year.
Our midfield runs so deep that I feel we can be okay even without Mills and Kennedy. We have so many options, including just playing Fox for Mills, as we did today when Mills went out. Fox in the side, along with COR and Melican allows both Dawson and McInerney to through the midfield. They've both been fantastic. And gives us a backline made up of backmen, even if they're not the best back 7 ever seen. They're still pretty good, with a balanced mix of defence and offence.
As much as I love Josh I think Mills return is more crucial for our finals hopesComment

Include both Kennedy and Mills in the team for next week with Chad as the medical sub.
The likelihood is that one or both most probably won’t get through a whole game. Chad comes in as super sub.

I think we have a couple of weaknesses that we probably can’t rectify this season
Clearances are still a bit weak, although Papleys inclusion today helped
The other is our inability to stop a big key forward. Unfortunately Sir Dane has dropped off a bit, and as much as he tries, Melican isn’t an elite KPD (not a slight on him, there’s not many about)Comment

I'd go with that if the fitness team deemed it worthy.Comment

Throw the kitchen sink at Dawson , he is just about our best player now .
Jmac is a star already , not a rising star , not a great young player , he is a bonafide star .
Paps at centre bounces i like, a good substitute for Chad but would prefer Chad in there so paps can push up off half fwd .
Bud feels it a bit too much , gonna have to not be so desperate for goals come finals , just believe in his own talent and the goals will take care of it self.
Disappointing in Wicks , Campbell , Fox , he was sub in his defence
Less i say about RBs game the better but he is a good finisher for goal
Spewing about Mills , jpk . Get chad backComment

Personally, I think he's good enough to come into the side if required and make a solid contribution. But there's no need to become obsessed with having him play next week. Our current team is playing well and has AFL match fitness. History suggests that Longmire tends to go with continuity. I've disagreed with some of his choices in this regard. as have you and TheBloods. We may be the experts, but Horse is Boss.Comment

Not to much to complain about in that game, aside from why isn't that the result every time we play GC.
Dawson, what a delight watching him this season. You just get a sense of calm when he gets the ball, knowing he's going to use it well.
Mills is a concern, let's hope it is manageable. That said, important though he is, I don't think it's the end of the world if he doesn't get up.
Buddy looks fired up for finals, for a moment I thought he was going for the 1000 in this game. Part of me hopes he saves it for next year so it happens with a crowd - preferably at the SCG.Comment

Watching Horse press conference he was chuffed the way Lloyd and Franklin covered the ground.
He spoke well of Chad’s build up, but seemed to potentially suggest a return was perhaps contingent on what happened with Mills and JPK.
Either way, maybe, just maybe, the coaches knew what they were doing to get him cherry ripe for a return through a serious block of footy.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Yes, even with Buddy kicking 6, I thought Dawson was BOG. 34 disposals, almost all them used the ball beautifully. McInerney was almost as good. Gulden's ball use was up there as well.
One thing I love about our back line, is how well they all get into position, to provide an option for anyone in possession (or scrambling for possession). In that regard, Lloyd was exceptional today.
