I know right. Did you know in Jan 2020 he also came back from the same training session and said KB and Dalrymple were into Logan McDonald in the draft and he’d be a fine successor to Buddy and other people laughed at him and he doesn’t need an apology or a hug but KB, Dalrymple and McDonald do.

If Mills is what he’s like next week as he was this week I’d still play him. He’ll give around 15 good disposals in 60 minutes of football. You then have a medical sub ready who can play a similar position.
Chad could be 2nd half super sub for Mills.
This is a great use of the medical sub rule as long as no one else is injured in the meantime.Comment

AFL statement on new medical sub rule

Nothing about pre-existing injury but does state injury will lead to 12 days out of the game. So I'm assuming club will need to present a case to AFL if Mills is picked. He's an amazing player - 18 odd possessions, many contested in one half of footy, clearly playing injured.Comment

However, if there was a clause around existing injuries, I can’t see how it would work. Most players will have niggles and complaints throughout the season & some seem capable of playing through pain barriers that would see others on crutches. Hickey’s dicky knee, for example.Comment

For all of the creative ( or crazy ) suggestions regarding the medical sub and how we could in theory try to game it by selecting half fit players one major factor seems to be overlooked.
What say in the third minute Jordan is accidentally caught high in a tackle and fails the HIA ? We then are forced to activate the sub and probably either carry an unfit player or lose a rotation when that player can’t continue. Not a very smart selection move.
This will be a cutthroat elimination final and selecting injured players would be a huge gamble.
A gamble that some might say is worth trying for what could potentially be the last game of the season.
I however think we need to pick the best available team from the players that the match committee feel will provide us with the team balance and structure to secure a victory.
I have felt since very early in the season that this the most open competition for many years and that we are as good a chance as anyone in the eight of winning and I reckon the whole Swans organisation believe the same.
Given that I think this is not the week to be trying to subvert the intent of the medical sub to possibly gain a perceived advantageComment

Correct. Pick the 22 you think can best win you the game, and then pick a medi sub.
You don’t get cute in finals.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Longmire conceding that Mills is in doubt for the Elimination Final according to AFL site. Joey may not get up either. It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Having said that, with the benefit of hindsight, I think playing Mills was the wrong call. But that’s just my opinion & like the proverb says, everyone has them.Comment

Playing half fit players in finals has butchered us in the past...almost invariably.
AS for gambling on the player lasting half a game and contributing, then being medicalled out, that's the stuff of dreams.
Schoolboy maths will show the stupidity of that.
It opens up so many possibilities that the game becomes roulette.
Quite apart for being far from 'playing in the spirit of the game'.Comment

Not sure every team has a 3rd tall/Goliath that Fox couldn’t handle better than Melican. In fact none that we could play do, each have two at best.
Geelong - Rohan
Melbourne - Fritsch
Lions - no real tall 3rd forward
Port - Georgiades
Giants - no real tall 3rd forward
The other option I was thinking about would be to play Reid back. If they don’t feel Fox is part of the team then Reid would add a lot more value than Melican.
And no, I am not Sam Reid.
