So, according to your view on the sub issue, when Alex Johnson did his 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd or 2nd ACL, and went off, the sub couldn’t be activated to replace him?

If we sign Paddy McCartin at seasons end, if he suffers another concussion in a game, he can’t be subbed off?

If Hickey sustains a knee injury during the finals, he can’t be subbed off?

They are all far more established and more significant pre-exisiting injuries than Mills.

Goswannies are you the poster who posts brilliantly on medical matters?

Do you work in the medical field?

If you are a medical expert, I will be deferring to your opinion.

You asked. This this a ridiculous suggestion. Match simulation is exactly that: simulated conditions (as opposed to match day). Fitness tests are precisely that. Specific tests that stress or challenge particular elements to determine the likeliness of whether that element might (or might not) reasonable fail during actual match conditions.
These are addressed at training, or specific pre-match sessions.

You asked. Another preposterous suggestion. I would suspect most, if not all, clubs play to win. However, every club is entitled to use the game time in whichever way it pleases. This could be getting game time into underdone players, trialling new game plan strategies, playing players in unaccustomed positions. The point is, it had nothing to do with disrespecting the opposition. It is about using the 120 minutes to achieve your objectives for the greater good of your club.

These are all questions where I’m looking for many varied opinions.
You asked. I have addressed this with examples of players with well known (if no the acute) injuries. If a player is genuinely injured, the player can be legitimately substituted.

The wrong spirit is taking a player off who is not genuinely injured (they might be tired or just be playing poorly) under the guise of injury and substituting them with fresh legs.

I recall that you post brilliant stuff on ACL’s and other injuries. I always assumed based on the medical insights in your posts that you had either physio or medical experience.

              No need to post credentials.

In the future if I want to know something about injuries, I will ask you.

I have no medical experience so won’t post any more on injuries.

I just felt that they took Mills into the game not fully fit and most probably knew that it was touch and go if Mills will get through. I will ask for your opinion on this and other injury matters in the future.

Mills had 2 reasons to play.

Prove he can impact the game. (on 1.5 legs) Yep did that

And not make the leg any worse.. (Rested once he had proved #1)

Ready to go on 1.5+ legs for next week

                    IMO

When the Swans sang the song after the win in Round 23, they were not in the usual circle, but had an opening and some players were glancing into that space.

                            What was that all about?

They had the staff that couldn't be there on the TV monitor singing with them

Goswannies, I’m not understanding the Mills injury. How do make an injury better by continuing to play? A number of players have said that Mills’s injury needs game time to improve.

I’ve always been conditioned to think that injuries need rest and targeted rehabilitation to improve.

What is the difference with Mills’s injury?
