We lost it in the first half .
Not lowering eyes , leading to turnovers .
      Giants lapped that up .

The occasion got to Bell and Warner too I think. I think the passion that Bell plays with was the thing that brought his goal kicking undone.

I think Papley was overhyped which was the reason he missed the second shot on goal.

Hickey seemed particularly fumbly too and I felt that the midfield was a bit hesitant early but were great after half time. Having said, we really should have won that, we did everything but kick the goals.

Plenty to take out of that for next year though. Kennedy , Mills and Blakey back in his rightful position as a HB and improvement in the youngsters and we will be top 4.

Overall a great year by the boys.

Bell will be devastated. I feel for him. He's not the first to crack under pressure, certainly won't be the last. Wicks also missed a pretty straight forward opportunity.

I thought our midfielders were great lead by Parker and Hickey. Stemmed the bleeding in the third, then hit the pedal in the fourth. Hewett, RB and Chad all had a dig against more fancied opponents. Errol, JMac and Dawson great on the wings. Oli was the odd one out. Had a few "deer in the headlight" moments and his kicking was poor. If we have to shed a midfielder, would rather keep George and let Ollie go.

As I said previously, we really need a quality tall back to compliment McCartain. If not for our mids getting on top, our backline would've been really exposed.

All up, great season. We did much better than expected. With a few tweaks, I expect we will be genuine contenders next year.

The umpires did not influence the outcome of this game unfortunately in the first half we weren't settled and in the last quarter poor kicking for goal cost us it's that simple. 7 points down last 6 scoring shots lose by a point

Exactly. It was blatant intentional contact with an umpire....surely a week.

For coming from 16th to finals. For travelling all over the country due to COVID. For playing some exhilarating footy. For showing we’re on track for a big five years.

For today : for getting that close without two of our best three centre square players. For things like Rowbottom showing the way in the third quarter. For Tom McCartin showing again he’s a total gun. For Heeney being Heeney. And for never, ever giving up.

                I’m just proud.

I thought Melican was OK - particularly in the last 1/4. Many could argue it was too late.

I can go through specific players who weren't good but I'd prefer to say: Kick the bloody goals when you have the chance.

Yep. Absolutely deserves a week for it, no matter who the umpire was.

Equally, I'd be happy with an alternative outcome of them being put on a boat together and sent to the south pole to live out their lives together. That would work too.

I have a story about Toby Greene for the AFL and anybody else who holds him up as a role model

A friend has 4 kids who all play junior AFL. He used to take them to Giants games because of all the family discounts. But after seeing how Toby Greene plays the game he refuses to go.

He says Toby is a thug and he doesn't want his kids to have him as a role model. He says he doesn't want Greene to be an example to them about how to play the game...

So for the AFL and all those who think Toby is a poster child, think again. My friend is a big AFL fan and wanted to follow both teams but now only follows the Swans. That's a family of 6 the Giants lost because of Toby. I imagine he speaks to other Sydney families who feel the same way...

Just thought you guys would like to know.

Great game and great attitude by the swans. This was lost at the selection table. Bell, O'Riordan, McLean and melican all probably shouldn't of been playing. Harsh to lose mills and Kennedy too. Rowbottom, Hickey, Hewett and Parker played out of their skins. Anyone who is doubting Rowbottom and frothing in the mouth about warner needs to seriously lay off the Kool aid. I'm over it. You're frankly deluded.

But all said and done ... Great year swans. They've been amazing. Just one of those 6 behinds in a row had to go through

Again, the free kick count doesn't tell the story. It is so often the story of the frees not paid. I lost count of how many times they simply pushed our forwards under the ball in the first half (and others around the ground). They got away with it time and time again.

They didn't influence the result in the end (we can blame noone but ourselves for so many late misses), but inconsistent application of the rules continues to really impact on contests more broadly.

Devastating loss. Swans need to get rid of Bell. I will never forgive him for this game.

                              Very well said.

A lot happened in that game, but GWS had a big second quarter and we were on the back foot from then onwards. Unfortunate that we couldn't field a stronger team. Too many inexperienced and second tier players.

One of those games where a couple of things go the other way late in the game - like nailing a goal for example - and you're looking at the great escape win, instead of the narrowest loss.

Well, I'm pretty gutted. But proud of the team.

On the bright side in 7-8 months we could all be vaccinated, opened up and watching Buddy kick number 1000 at the SCG.

First delisting on Monday should be Bell. What's wrong with the MC to think he's any good?

Chad is not the man for the big occasion. We can always depend of Florent to miss those kicks that really matter.

The other mistake we made was letting go of Aliir.

Why didn't we play Taylor instead of Bell?

The only good part is that we have higher draft picks.
Cos Squizzy is a useless a bell, Ludwig. But Bell was as good a man missing, so maybe you’re right.

Hard to blame Chad given no game time. He’ll be okay.

Ollie doesn’t look like he’s gonna get much better than what we’ve seen. Promising at times, but just doesn’t deliver.

Don’t know what to think about Aliir. Port went hard for him and I wish him luck. McCartin will be okay too.

Too many wasted opportunities. Wicks, Ollie, Bell (twice), Paps, RB, Wilbur & even Hickey all fluffed their lines when we were on top.
