I’ve been one to tolerate Melican and see his occasional upside, but between that and getting spanked by Hogan, oh boy.

I did know we were a KPD short, but we REALLY are. Time to find McCartin’s companion for the next decade.
To be honest, I suspect even before a game was played this year, there was a fair chance a KPD (if we can find one that fits what we need) would of been central on the radar for the trade table. Surely it still will be - there are other gaps to fill sure, but with McDonald brewing for the other end of the ground, we need to find someone to go with Tom Mc at the other, and the KP roles will be on the right track.

WTF i said it was a positive , i think a finals loss can be good for teams , exposes our weaknesses and gives us @@@@ to work on over the off season , now im in trouble for it

In defence of Melican, the Giants did a good job of blocking out for Hogan. A couple could have been called against the Giants.

Yes, a few players, particularly Florent and Melican, need to see the game better and choose the right targets. Florent has to fix up this part of his game by the start of next season. The rest of his game is okay. Maybe Melican just needs some continuity in playing senior games. Nonetheless, we desperately need a couple of key defenders; maybe Paddy McCartin, or perhaps Gould or O'Connor can make the leap next season.

We should have a high enough 1st round pick to get a reasonable KPP in the draft. Maybe Jye Amiss.

To believe that it was accidental, you would have to believe that a professional sportsman, with excellent hand eye coordination, somehow couldn't spot a fluoro clad umpire, one metre in front of him. Well, either that, or he did spot Stevic, but couldn't make the necessary adjustment to miss him, at walking pace.

Tom McCartin to the recruitment staff, "You know, I've got a brother who's a pretty good key position player."

To be fair to Hodge, he probably wished he could do such a thing when he was playing. He comes from the same grub book of footballers that Greene does, so its no suprise he tries to defend the inexcusable.

It was deliberate and intentional - no matter how 'soft' the contact. If he gets off, then umpires will basically be free game for all

Warner 62% and 60% TOG. Why do we bring in 2 players who aren't ready to play? We could have had Fox and Campbell who both could have played over 85%.

What was Longmire thinking? And it's not like him to make off the cuff changes. He's usually so conservative. Especially Fox, who played well all year, then suddenly finds himself out of the 22 in a game when we needed a strong defender against a good team at forward stoppages. They killed us before in that area and did it again today.
My guess is the MC choked. We did have a chance to bring Warner in vs GC. Big ask to bring a kid into a game like this. & He did improve as the game went on.

            Agree on Fox.

I think COR could be something - but again, too much to ask when no game time against decent opponents.

Toby will get a week, then lawyers involved to get it a fine.
He didn't deviate from his line and there was no force.

Sometimes you need a bit of luck too, the Wicks one bounces differently and we win. GWS are a good side and they were never
going to die wondering. If someone had told you at the start of the season we were going to play finals this year, you would have
                  taken it in a heartbeat.

Very true re: the blocking. They got a way with that a lot today - its sadly a tactic more generally getting back into the game it seems.

Florent continues to frustrate. I like him a lot as a player, and really think he will blossom when we get a bit more sorting out done in the midfield (I feel he is caught a bit in 'no mans land' in terms of his role at the moment as our new age midfield develops) - but there is definitely a risk that he could find it increasingly difficult to maintain his spot if he can't improve his decision making (and execution at times).

My jaw dropped when I saw Hodge, on live TV, working with Greene on how to get off

Its the intentional part of it that will (and should) see him spend a week on the sidelines. Force doesn't come into that element of it.

                          Hello All,

All in all it has been a great season. It was a heartbreaking way to lose and I’m comfortable that the better team lost. I’ve decided to let the emotion settle before posting about individual players. One thing is for sure that all the players will be hurting more than most on here.

I really hope we can keep this team together because I think they can achieve great things and being much joy over the next few years at least.

that's the whole point. if I wanted to show force against a person I would NOt deviate and just walk as if they were not there and walk "through" them. It's a classic bully action. players get a fine when an umpire backs into them at a bounce but this was a deliberate action. Multiple weeks.

Assuming Buddy stays fit, we should be one of the favourites for 2022. Most of the team will benefit from another year of experience. Especially Gulden, Campbell, McDonald, McInerney, Wicks, Rowbottom, Warner, I could keep going.

I think we are looking in the corners and jumping at shadows worrying about Toby..

When u are 20 behind coming into the last qtr

And the stat's say 20% of teams behind last qtr win..........we need to be looking at the first 3qtrs for the revealing Intel

80% teams in front at 3 qtr time win the game......and that is what GWS did..

Super impressed with our adjustments this season

                                1. Easy draw and we capitalised on it..

                                2. Wonder change in attack by the Don

                                3. Emerging youth starting to dominate

                                Happy for me

                                Great effort and smart coaching
