Yeah, but no but yeah - I agree. It’s a very empty feeling after that game. Apart from conceding 5 goals in 10 minutes of second half & then another 3 in last half minute of each of q1,2 & 3, we looked the better team. Next year seems so far way right now.

Scumbag on the field, protecting other scumbags off it. That's luke hodge for you - players like him is why I have zero respect for the Hawks, who hold him up like an idol.

Easy in hindsight but Reid would have been a better option than McLean. Why? Experience.

I reckon losing this week rather than next week will open the eyes of the selectors. If we would have gone into next week , some of our deficiencies would have been glossed over.
We lack the same players we have been talking over the last year.
            Inside mid and tall back
We were always going to lose this one after losing three good players before thr bounce and as a result losing all structure. I was actually surprised by the result of coming this close to their score.
I was hoping in the last few weeks that we would stop experimenting but the selection committee took it to the next level with the experimentation continuing till the finals.

Players like Florent are a problem on the list more so than the Hewetts.

It is beyond me why Chad wasn't played last week to give him more game time, in a dead rubber. Up until he was injured he was fanatastic.

McLean did okay in moments today, but he really got shown up when relief rucking in the first half. I was comfortable with his selection, but it was a 50/50 that didn't quite come off - not helped either by him getting injured (another big body up forward late who just, just maybe might have clunked a mark when we desperately needed one).

Going to be interesting to see what we do with Reid over the summer - fit he is clearly a first 22 player, even if he hasn't become the player we all hoped he could. But can he ever stay fit for more then a few weeks at a time.

I do wonder if he has been carrying some other injury we don't know about. I thought it would be a big risk to bring him after so long out, and sadly it was proven right. He was fit though (or as fit as he could be) last week, so I do also find it odd why they didn't give him the game last week.

Some odd selection calls again - but at least, at least we didn't carry in clearly not fit players (kennedy and Mills) like we have in previous finals in recent years. That is a step forward if nothing else.

I know but the AFL has softened a bit and fines players more now days and they didn't like Williams record. that said it should be weeks.

Probably would have preferred having Mills on 1 leg! Would have contributed more than a few others did today sadly.

McLean played ok against North and the Suns. Looked lost today. But he is a big unit and they mostly take a while to mature. Reid at least may have been able to clunck a couple of marks up forward.

Parker played a blinder. If he had taken that mark late, he surely wouldn't have missed.

I wouldn't. While of course we could of used Mills hugely, if he wasn't fit, he wasn't fit. We've tried multiple times in finals to carry players clearly not fit to play, and I can't remember once when we've gone 'thank goodness we played a half fit X'.

That's not to say we didn't get some of it wrong at the selection table - but that part of not risking players definitely not right we got spot on.

Yeh I thought that was the 'moment' when I saw it was Parker under the mark. I'm sure too he wouldn't have missed - he surely will win another Skilton medal this year comfortably. Outstanding leader, and we can't afford to lose him imho (I don't think we will though).

The hickey one, yeah. Green played for the 2nd one - put his head in the hot spot and then faked the head knock as TMC got his shoulder - but guess it didn’t matter with 10 seconds left. Sucked the ump in, but do whatever you can get away with, imho.

Just checked and was surprised to see that Melican had 17 disposals and 8 marks. Not shabby. He wasn't the reason we lost. I would like to see someone better in that fullback position, but if he could get a decent run with injuries, I think he would be okay.
