Some of us have given up.
And thus ends the most unpleasant season on RWO in my years of being here.
I barely got a run this year, so clearly time to hang up the boots. There's now too much trolling and endless thread hijacking by one belligerent, fixated and self-righteous individual. Time to move on.

I've barely posted here all year, for a variety of reasons, but I thought I'd re-engage during the run in to finals. I remember a guy who used to post here all the time and ended up getting banned (Matt80 or something like that) but we went on. Petty disagreements are annoying but what saddens me most is fans ripping into our players. Criticism is fine. If a player has a poor game or does something dumb, by all means comment on it, but make it about the action not the player. Ripping into Bell, Melican or anyone else and demanding they be delisted is not cool. They're human beings just like all of us and are trying their hardest.
Roosy always said that you judge a team on its bottom six, not its top six, and the Giants are WAY ahead of of us on that atm. We finished ahead of them because of their injuries. They have most of them back now and their list is outstanding. Yes I'm angry and frustrated that we lost, especially given that I think we were the better team and should have kicked straight in the fourth quarter, but I will make constructive criticisms and list observations, not turn things into a lynch mob.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Hi all,
A frustrating day at the office. One that i think will sit in the bellies of all involved for a long time.. the missed opportunities.. the sliding doors moments..
Our young ones didn't manage to set UTAS alight like we might've hoped! BUT .. and this is the most important thing .. they didn't shy away from the challenge either .. they looked every bit as hungry as Parks for victory .. but perhaps not as capable of willing themselves to get there as our great captain??
I was quite emotional watching Parker.. he was the only one out there from our 2012 premiership team .. a captain who wears his heart on his sleeve .. delivering in a big game for us ONCE again .. it harked back to Paul Kelly, and the way he made our team greater than it already was in that 96 season .. weight of numbers just beat Parks today and he didn't have enough help that Kelly had that year .. he is a marvel nonetheless!!
Great signs for the future.. first taste of finals for the lads and some important time for reflection!!

If anyone had said to me "this year The Swans will play a final but lose by a point" I would have been extremely happy after last year.
....I just need to accept that position lol.
If you think about us and The Giants it has been a mighty effort to get so far after being isolated for so long.
Having said that I'm hoping the Dees win the flag but suspect Port might be hard to beat.Comment

No we must listen to the oracle as he is just about the only one ( well he does have that one offsider ) that truly understands the nuances of the game. The rest of us should really give up trying to explain what we see and think as it is pointless when compared to the superior insights offered by this pundit.
We are lucky they he chose here on RWO just a short 18 months ago as the place where he would share his wisdom.

Wow. People are really starting to get comfortable with the loss of freedom, and governments controlling our whole life’s. Now people on blogs are attempting to quash individual freedoms and right to ones opinion. This attempt to sensor one’s opinion needs to stop.Comment

This would be great sarcasm if you didn’t actually believe it.
Seriously stop telling people how to think and act and make like the Shepard and his sheep and flock off.Comment

& if someone is getting to you, click on their name and select “ignore”. I did that to a few on here. It felt good. You’ll still see their posts but they will show as “hidden”.Comment

Thanks for that Agent 86. After clicking on their name you have to go to view profile and select ignore and then confirm that you really want to ignore them. I have now very happily ignored two recent posters that have been hijacking and bullying all. A pair of pitiful and childish trolls.Comment

I’m standing up for the right of posters to have the individual freedom to express an opinion. This outrageous attempt to sensor and cancel TB is a prime example of cancel culture which Piers Morgan is leading a rearguard action against.
Let TB and all posters have the right to express their opinions. Don’t get too comfortable with government controls.Comment

So, I missed the freaking game. I usually watch day games on delay, so I can focus singularly on parenting and then the game. I saw Papley's first goal, felt good, but when I went back to Kayo to watch the rest, it glitched and flicked to the final frame of the recording, which displayed the horrifying score.
I felt cheated of the experience of watching our first finals game for three years, although the experience looks like it would have been harrowing.
I read the stats and then this thread and I think I get the picture.
It felt like we had to beat the omens to win this game. Blakey out was huge, as he was becoming so damaging slicing out of defence. Then Josh and Callum. Faffing around with the defence and second ruck. Bringing in two cold players. It felt like we over-thought it a bit with selection.
I've woken up feeling philosophical.
Hopefully by the start of the preseason, the country is sufficiently vaccinated to be opened up.
We need to get full preseasons into Campbell, Warner, and McDonald, as each need to be in our best 22 next year. Big preseasons for Stephens and Gould too, if they are still around.
I'm not sure we have too many (any?) players whose injuries will drag into preseason.
Clearly we must re-sign Dawson and Parker. Next priority Hewett, then Stephens.
Draft the best tall defender prospect.
The silver lining, as someone said, is the opportunity to see Buddy kick his 1,000th.

Hehe. I was thinking that too. The way he was described as hard running, strong mark, contested ball winner with a good kick & 2x AA U18 sounded just like what we needed.
If the ‘tank’ was the problem, he’s not Pat Malone.
Still only 20, so hope he doesn’t leave for better opportunities.Comment
