Monster top-up lists are on: AFL confirms COVID contingency plan
The AFL has announced COVID-contingency protocols for the upcoming season. The Northern clubs have probably done quite well out of the allocation of non-aligned VFL clubs (in the sense that we have access to players at two nominated clubs as well as our own VFL list, while Vic clubs have access to only their own affiliated VFL lists. I guess that says something about the difference in VFL talent depth.)Comment

King re-signed with the Suns for a further two seasons to 2024.
This is great news, not only for the faith King is showing in the Suns but for the whole comp who need GC to finally make meaningful progress.
They have a number of other key players OOC at seasons end, early contract extensions would be welcomedComment

Think I posted on here before: you give me one player under 23 to go poach from another team in the comp, and it's him. What he did kicking close to 50 goals in a dreadful side last year is seriously under estimated.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Just checked out the Stan doco about the player agents. Overall it left me with the impression they don't do a lot, and I'm not convinced they are that valuable to their players, but the system benefits from their work - they smooth the cogs of the clubs dealing directly with each other. The main value for the player is they have someone to hold their hands through the process and give them tips when they are dealing with stuff for the first time etc. But in terms of getting a better deal for their client, or making a deal happen, I don't think they only make a marginal difference. Still there's a place for them. I'm just not that impressed with them. Of those shown in the show, I reckon that Robbie D'Orazio was the one who made the best impression on me.
Well done Suns for re-signing Ben King. Pity it's only for 2 years but a good outcome for them. I don't rule them out of playing finals this year - they could be the bolter. Conversely, I think Freo's future looks really bright but not necessarily this year. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

I was thinking the same thing. I could imagine Adelaide saying we do not have to give the Swans anything for Dawson and his Agent agreeing. It would be great if scenes like that were in the documentary as it would publicly reveal the inequities in the current system that need to be rectified.Comment

I popped into the SCG area yesterday afternoon after flying in from Melbourne in the morning. There was no sign of players training outside on the Tramway Oval, so I wandered down to check out the new Hall of Industries training facility being redeveloped. Impressive progress so far as the photos show.
The Entertainment Quarter area behind the Holden Pavilion also is very impressive. Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars. There is even a cinema! This could be a good meeting spot for Swans' supporters pre and post-game as its only a short walk from the ground.Comment
