Mark26 mentioned Zurhaar. I’m a big fan. Hard as nails. Put him in a good side and he could be a star.

He's only 24. Plenty of footy in front of him you'd think.

Death, taxes and Sydney being mentioned as a destination for every player still out of contract. And we are only at round 11

I’d take Zurhaar and Taranto if available both 24

In the post game vs Richmond, the commentators stated Franklin and our CEO were discussing terms for a one year extension, and that Florent was about to sign on for another two years as well.

2 Melbourne based clubs are being reported by SA media, with the caveat that they expect Walker will remain a Crow. And there are far stronger reports that Bud & the Swans are negotiating a one year extension.
I don’t think wild, unsubstantiated speculation is helpful or healthy but that’s just my view on the silly season (and it’s too early for that too!)

I like both players, but Zurhaar would be my preference. I think we could use another medium forward and love Zurhaar's physicality. He would probably come at a cheaper price than Taranto

I'm not looking to be too active in the trade market, but this one is the most appealing and fits a need.

I’ve loved him for a while and the other night reminded me why, but I hadn’t realised he was out of contract.

So, let’s go get Liam Baker. Can play small at either end of the ground - think a massive upgrade on Wicks forward, or the small defender we desperately need. A total hard nosed rat, unflinching, team first and you’d love to coach him or play alongside him.

What an excellent suggestion. Locked-in best 22 with Richmond, but worth asking the question.

Oh great call, IU2, was going to mention this myself - he was terrifically impressive on Friday night. Second in the Tiges B&F last year so he's hardly an unknown commodity, but if we're looking for the next elite small defender he appears to have many of the attributes.

Hope the current turmoil at North has instilled a further appreciation where he's at and hopefully commit long term with us.
Signed a two year extension a month ago to end of 2024

I didn't understand at the time why we took Stephens ahead of Serong and Young in the 2019 draft and I still don't. I know Beatson said we were after a hybrid midfielder but still. Looks like being another one of those drafts where our best pick was a later one. Strange how the Club does so well with later picks but often bombs with first rounders that aren't academy products. I am still hoping that Stephens proves me wrong but not optimistic. Worried that the way he is going that his trade value is only declining.

Stephens had a reputation of being a good kick, and he looked okay at first. I don't know what's happened that has made his kicking turn so awful. In the VFL game today he did have to kick a lot on his right side. We were under a lot of pressure most of the game and very few players were presenting to the kickers, which of course resulted in a lot of turnovers. I don't think Stephens would have any trade value at this time. Matt Ling would be a better option.

I think the issue with Stephens is he actually has more time than he thinks he does . I’m not going to write him off just yet . I had the reserves game on in the background and notice one clearance at a stoppage were he picked it up work his way through traffic and gave a great hand ball . All is not lost

On another note Gould looks so composed except for one late Clanger . He is taking his game to another level and I just wonder if his leg speed is the only thing holding him back from getting a senior game . He’s putting a consistent block of football together atm
