I read an analysis today of the top 75 prospects for the next draft. Three Swans academy players were mentioned:
Webster, Anderson and Edwards. It will be interesting to see if our list manager/recruiters decide to draft any of these guys. Given the size of the list, many will likely miss out on being drafted. However, the fact that 3 of ours were listed suggests at least 1 to 2 will be drafted or rookie listed.

Is Anderson already "embedded" with us this year as a VFL player?

About time we started to do our delist/retire list.

      Kennedy - retire
      Sinclair - retire
      Taylor - ooc delist
      Buddy - retire/1 yr
      Gould - ooc
      COR - ooc
      Clarke - ooc

Anderson and Edwards were eligible for the draft last year. So, while that doesn't rule them out, I'm not sure if they're top prospects? Although, the covid interruptions of the last couple of years does complicate things.

You may well be correct. It is just the view of one analyst.

Naismith is still on our list, isn't he? I can't really see us persisting, in the vague hope of a feel good story, some time next year?

I actually like all three and wouldn't be disappointed if they made it on to the rookie list. Webster seems to be improving as the year progresses, playing as a KPD, and could be a chance for the main list. Edwards seemed a bit raw to me last season, but has a certain something. Booming kick, tackles hard, crashes a pack, can play at both ends and puts plenty of pressure on midfielders, when he fills in as a ruckman.

I thought Webster was pretty impressive in the VFL last week. I checked the stats and they were a lot lower than what I thought they would be based on my watching.

Which analyst? Can you provide a link?

I haven't checked for that game, but in the past, I've checked the VFL stats, when the totals for lesser known players seemed wrong to me. That is, I added up the total number of disposals listed in the individual stats and compared them to the number listed in the team stats. IIRC, the couple of times that I did that, the individual total, was about 30 or 40 less than the number of disposals given to the team. So, it's possible, that if the stats people were having trouble recognising a new player, they might have been just adding a disposal to the team total, with giving one to the players??

AFL news 2022: Dustin Martin trade to Sydney Swans, Richmond Tigers, it’s on, interest from Swans, contract, deal

Sounds like the Tigers are desperate to offload his massive salary. They’d have to pay a significant chunk you’d think. I can’t see it happening but then I never thought we’d see Buddy in red and white

We are after Dusty because we have realised some on our list arent what we hoped or thought they 'd be

Martin at 31 is still better than 97% of players at 25. It might be pretty cool seeing the bloke in red and white doing that
fend off of his, wheeling around on the 50 and putting one thru at the SCG. I could handle that.

Whilst we'd all love to see Dusty in red and white, it would only make sense if we thought we could win a flag in the next two seasons.

So much risk, turns 32 half way through next season, age related injury, would he be 100%engaged, huge salary, cost in picks.

Better he stays at Richmond and they bear all those risks, don't derail what we're doing because Dusty would now rather be in Sydney/NSW.

Hopefully the chat about this on channel 9 was just that crap programs usual trumped up sensationalism, it's such a low brow show, even the theme music is crap!

Fair enough. If they can't get the music right, what are they worth anyway? I mean, how hard is it to hire at least one person
with cool taste in music? Too hard, it seems. Legend has it Martin has been smart with his dough, buying a bunch of commercial
properties in Melbourne. That is the stuff that pays the bills down the way. So if he really wants to live in Sydney maybe
he'll be reasonable to deal with. Richmond? Who knows. We shall see I guess.
