When we're cashed up again, it will be our turn to offer lucrative contracts to prospective free agents. However, I don't see that happening in the near future because we will be wanting to retain the players we have. What's more likely will be more modest free agency offers because someone just wants to play for us."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Not the most enjoyable game to attend in some ways, but it all turned out right in the end!
First half the side really lacked energy. Just lots of really congested, ground-level footy with North making more of their kicking opportunities. Lost count of how many times players were run down just standing with the ball.
Enough players came good in the end, not many were good all day. I thought Campbell was a real standout today, Mills and Warner were good all game and the experience of Reid showed. I like McLean, he's not spectacular but he does his job: stands tall, takes contested marks, kicks straight. Heeney came good in the second half, that sealer was a joy to behold.
60 free kicks in a game is statistically very high. There was one phase late in the game where it felt like no one could advance more than about 5 metres without a whistle going off, which really frustrated everyone. I think most of the frees were there but there were a couple of baffling moments that just looked like a genuine contest from my seat. Anyway, the umps got a good send off at the end
I hope that's the annual ugly win we had to have but hey, it's a win.Comment

Had to laugh at a decent portion of the crowd using the interlude of the club song to swap from clapping to telling the umps what they thought of the officiating on the day.
McInerney huge in the last quarter- fantastic to stand up like that. Mills very good overall and the only one of the older core in the midfield that I thought had a really good day.
Heeney was not near his best for most of it I thought (in terms of using the ball - but tackled hard all day long), but stood up when it counted, and that sealer was an absolute moment of pure class.
Reid had a good return, Ronke showed again some life, and I thought Bell had a decent game too.
Worried about JPK - not saying he can't play a role for us still, but just feels a step behind at the moment. Don't doubt he still has something to give, but feel the end is coming quickly - like it all does.
Game done, 4 points in the bag - that's the main thing. Got to win ugly when you have to win ugly - and that was certainly today."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Logan is a pure forward who knows when and where to lead, whereas Amartey is more a spare parts player whose athleticism makes him look good, especially in the twos. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

What a night.
I’ve got NFI in what happened in the game.
I ran into ROK and commented about what great shape he’s in. He said that he does a lot of cycling. I told him that I loved watching him play and appreciated his 15 tackles in the GF.
I was talking to this girl who said she wanted to date Dane Rampe. I rather explicit conversation.
I was having beers with Chad from big brother. I asked him if he liked Chadmania to describe his impact. He said no. I guess Chadmania is dead.
How did the Swans Chad go?
I lost my sunglasses and then lost property had them. How good.
I checked the score and noticed the Swans won. Someone said that Buddy was subbed out.Comment

Not a convincing performance by any stretch of the imagination but I'm more than happy to get the 4 points over the club whose supporters booed Goodesy throughout his final game. Hope they thought they had us done and were shattered when we snatched it from them!

North were playing for their lives, IMO. I thought it was a very highly contested game and we had to be good to win in. North brought their best. I think saying we were poor is incorrect.Comment

I dont understand why the swans dont ask to have meeting wioth brad scott and the boss of the umpires. Somehting needs to be done to improve trheire performance. Its not the trotal frees against us its the frees we dont get, see dogs gat alot yeseterday again.Comment

We did well to hang tough against a committed opponent (opponents if you count the umpires ????). That fourth quarter was a glimpse of what is required if we are to go far this year. Heeney, Mills, Ollie and McInerney leading the way.
Areas of concern for me are:
1) Defensive work on small / medium forwards. Ziebell and Mahoney finished well on top of Cunningham, Lloyd and Rampe. I don't think our small defenders have collectively won a battle this year with Lloyd / Hill (GWS), Close (Cats), Weightman (Dogs) prevailing as well.
2) Pressure in our F50 was average with North easily rebounding for the first 3 quarters. Hayward has been kicking a few goals but his pressure and workrate poor for a medium forward. I think it's tine for him to play VFL. If fit Papley for Hayward (Wicks if Paps still not fit) next week and Ronke for Bell who did ok, just not as well as Ronke, who was influential in our forth quarter comeback.
3) Has JPK's time come? I really hope not but just looks off the pace in speed and decision making. Roberts has been a ball magnet in VFL and Sheldrick has impressed everyone so far. Might be a changing of the guard coming ........Comment
