Blowout round so far, average margin close to 10 goals even with the Dockers smaller winning margin. I wonder what Sunday will bring.

Essendon were witches hats. Their effort doesn't extend beyond the first quarter. I was staggered how they were so insistent on hand balling around a 5 meter zone. The first thing they have to do is get a new fitness coach. On that game they will be cellar dwellers for some time.

        Will old mate Dodoro survive?

GWS need to offload some high end talent in the midfield to relieve some cap pressure. If they could trade out one of Kelly, cog.., or Whitfield for just draft picks, the rebuild will be faster.

They have been getting good picks over the last few years, so a base must be there.

Just a few small problems here.

The players you've mentioned are playing like they're ready to be delisted, but being paid like Dusty Martin.

Taranto and Hopper are looking to leave and Ward may well be retire, gutting much of the midfield.

Their recent high draft picks, like Bruhn and Hill are wanting to be traded out.

They need to relocate to Tasmania and get on a new AFL subsidy program. If that doesn't work, Macquarie Island is desperate for a major sports franchise.

                1. We won't be able to take over their academy zone.
                2. Plenty of dingbats, but not many penguins.
                3. Well be forced to see people in the stands on the weekend we've seen more than enough of during the week.

The Lions' performance on Friday was pathetic - it's very difficult to see them winning the flag from here.

Hopefully the trend continues and our game is a smashing (in our favour of course). As has already been said we can't be thinking about percentage going into the game. Get the win first.

So the Bombers have finally got around to sacking Rutten.

I find it unbelievable that James Hird's name is being tossed around - at least by the media - as a potential replacement. Quite aside from his involvement in the saga, he's been pretty much out of the game for the last five years or so. And his first stint never rose above mediocre, supplements or no supplements.

I'm not sure that a couple of months sitting next to McVeigh at the Giants really constitutes the kind of body of work on which to base a senior coaching appointment.

Hawks giving the Dogs a run.....only 3 pts down at half time. I feel dirty saying this but....go Hawks! Finally finish off the Fairypups season.

Hard to know what I really make of that. Does the job that Rutten did to unexpectedly get them to finals in 2021, mean that he's quite a good coach and that Essendon should have persisted with him? Or does their many insipid efforts this season, mean that they're right to terminate his employment? There's also the possibility that the apparent dysfunction at the club, is more widespread than just the players and coaches. So, is Rutten being punished by management, for a situation that they made worse? Who knows?

And if there's plenty of behind the scenes problems, will that limit the field of prospective coaches who want to come to the club? While there's always be applicants for an AFL coaching job; in this case, there might be a few assistant coaches, who will decide that they're quite happy where they are.

Hawks/Poodles. Blues/Pies. You'll feel dirty whoever you want to win , stevo! Poodles gradually getting the better of the Hawks and seem to have the wind in the final quarter. We need Carlton to beat Collingwood, just in case we lose our game, right?

I prefer to look at it as "who would you most like to lose?"
