I can't recall who, but in his draft year, one of the close draft watchers said his play would resemble Nick Reiwoldt for his ability to burn opponents running up and down the ground. He's got a bit of a way to go, obviously, but his work rate has been exceptional and he gets himself to a lot of contests too. As he grows stronger, he'll start pulling in some more marks, but for a second year KPF, we should be very comfortable with how he's tracking.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Obviously I am a huge fan of Chad (like we all are) but I have to disagree with you here... Chad basically had no impact on the game barring an excellent pass in the first qtr and his brilliant goal in the 2nd. He was well beaten by his young opponent who tagged him (was 17th ranked player by CD) and he'll hopefully learn from this because we really need more from him the next few weeks if we are going to make an impact in September!

I’m assuming Windhager was the tag? If so, he’s taken some good scalps over the past month or so (including pantsing Neale last week).
For me, it’s mind blowing that Chad has so quickly grown to such a damaging weapon that he gets tagged. No impact? Really?
More concerning for me is that it sounded like we were getting smashed at every centre bounce and Saints clearances were off the charts. If mids get beaten like this vs Melbourne it could get ugly.Comment

I wonder if we deliberately avoided using our finals centre bounce setup in that game? I.e. we have something up our sleeveComment

I haven't watched a replay, but live, I was getting the impression that fortune was favouring the Saints at centre bounces. As in, they seemed to get quite a few clearances, where the ball bounced around with neither side getting a handle on it, until it ricocheted to a Saints player in a bit of space.Comment

I have to admit that I was working and only half listening to the radio, but even then “no impact” sounds harsh, yeah?

The last two games were probably our worst performances for centre bounce clearances and we won both games in spite of that .
Markwebbos may be on to something in that we chose not show our hand too early however centre clearances have not been one of our strengths throughout the year and we generally break even at best.
I prefer to focus on the areas where we are strong especially our inside 50 figures where we are pretty strong all round and have been a better team than our opponents over the year. If we had improved our kicking accuracy when we get it down in the fifty our percentage going in to the last round may have been better and removed the focus on percentage.Comment

We had nothing without Chad when he was tagged . Paps went off half time , Mills on the wing doesnt look right to me , Parker cant do it on his own much as he might seem superhuman ! You knew it was dire straits when we had to put Heeney in there to win a clearance . Get Roberts and Gus in !
From The Mongrel Punt: "James Rowbottom is another youngster in the Swans midfield who is doing all the right things. He hits stoppages at speed, he spreads, and he is unafraid to do the hard stuff. Along with others mentioned in this review, he is a key to the Swans’ September fortunes."

.....and did you catch last weeks TMP write up on James? You should check it out....but a warning, it might be a little embarrassing for you TB.Comment

We had NOTHING?? I know you can't mention him in vain....but surely your 'agreement' doesn't mean you can't mention him in a positive light?

We got the bounce that counted, however, when Blakey pounced on it - Hayward goal!!
A few Malceski-like goals from WH.Comment

Or Nick Davis like. Watching live yesterday, the stress of that second half meant I didn't appreciate quite the degree of difficulty - and thus of skill - of those two last Hayward goals. His improvement in the second half of this season is a large part of why we've finished in 3rd spot.
In the forward line he benefits from oppositions paying so much attention to Papley, Heeney and Buddy, but it's his work up and down the ground, and the contested marks he's been taking across half-back and along the wings that have elevated him to being a hugely important part of this team.Comment
