Indeed. I'd momentarily forgotten that. Looking a better deal. Reid's return and Paddy's recruitment has covered Dawson's aerial threat.

So thrilled they lost in heartbreaking circumstances.
That one would have done a rugby player proud. 3 umpires and not one of them 'saw' it.

After that 2016 GF as Dogs supporter said to me that “we had 3 extra players today”. When even the supporters are recognising the overt bias, after a much longed-for premiership, then you know it was bad.

I’m still glad they got exposed as crap last night, and for a club renowned as soft, think it’s funny they’re gonna put their faith in Rory Lobb - one of the great downhill skiers of the comp.

The only thing that would have made the Freo/Bulldogs match better would have been a bulldogs player being called for a throw when it was a legitimate handpass in the dying seconds, then giving away 50 by arguing with the umpire, for an after the siren goal for the Dockers to win by a point. That would have been wonderful, as it was, losing the way they did was quite satisfying.

But isn’t it the case that in the ARC they use Hawk-Eye technology on the camera vision to track the ball path over the goal line?

I assume this would be similar to the ball tracking used in tennis.

I believe that Hawk-Eye is extremely accurate but it does depend on the quality of the camera vision that is provided by the fixed cameras at the grounds and the vision provided by the TV camera operators.

The AFL certainly trialled Hawk-Eye back in 2013 (so nearly ten years ago). I don’t know what happened subsequently but that article I linked earlier says:

“Each game has a team of three on watch: a controller, who operates the camera angles and the Hawk-Eye technology; an analyst, who calls out what they see; and a supervisor.”

I wish someone would write an article that clearly explains how the review system is conducted. The one I reference only partly does that.

And I would have hoped AFL commentators would have invested effort into understanding it .....
Earlier in this thread I posted the comment above re the AFL video review system, in which I referred to ball tracking using Hawk-Eye technology.

From things I have read since, I have now concluded the AFL does NOT use Hawk-Eye ball tracking. So I don’t know what the Hawk-Eye reference in the article I previously linked means.

There was an article in ‘The Australian’ in the last few days which claims the AFL will trial ball-tracking technology next year (the article is behind a paywall so I can’t read the rest). I think this may be linked to Eddie McGuire’s idea of putting microchips into the balls.

                      I would have loved that.
Maybe a little off topic, but I'll not forget for a long time the joy I felt when Collingwood got a Flag ripped from them when the Eagles goaled almost on the bell a couple of years ago.
Still brings a smile to my face.

The Lynch overturned goal looked like an obvious point to me. and the ball is only about a foot above the top of the posts, so any examination of video would be very accurate.

Lynch kicked a point. Lynch and all the players around knew it. The goal umpire made a howler. The ARC corrected it.

Hardwick should be funneling his manufactured rage at Lynch for missing a shot from 5m out. What a clown.

Hardwick should be funnelling his rage at the 5 Richmond players in the goal square who still allowed the one Brisbane player to kick the goal.

So looking for advice for GF registration.

I’ve put all my barcodes in but they’re not being accepted. I’ve removed the letters and the spaces but ticketek keeps knocking back the barcodes.

                            Any suggestions?

Edit: so individual barcodes are going in ok, but not multiples. There must be some issue with spaces or commas

Edit: all sorted - each barcode needs a new line

I don't think this point was lost on him. He mentioned it on Robbo's show the other night.

Listening to the 2 Guys 1 Cup podcast, Charlie Clausen was at the game behind the Richmond cheer squad when Lynch kicked that. He said it was quite clearly a point. There you go, it's definitive
