We don't have to speculate. We have analysis! But no one seems to read it. Let's go again...

From the SCG to Kardinia Park — do ground sizes contribute to the end result in AFL games?

Another area often cited is that bigger grounds mean more open space for players, and less congestion.
While it seems logical that more total space would create more uncontested footy, the data tends to indicate otherwise.

Though of course, would anyone really notice, if all the boundary lines were brought in a few metres?

I'm really curious. If McRae pegged the ground at Olympic Park for training at an SCG size, what exactly is the ground dimensions of Olympic Park? I looked around but couldn't find any measurements. Would be funny if the difference was in centimetres, even funnier if it was a smaller pitch.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

I've seen the vision but I want confirmation.

It seems like a clever diversion away from the previous result to me.

Sorry to hear that Nico. Yes, Johnny had told me you were unwell. Get well soon, mate. In answer to your query, yes I am in the ballot - fingers crossed!

All of this talk about De Goey, whereas we are not reliant on one or two players. We will have plans for countering De Goey, and others. We are an excellent defensive team and can shut down their offence. Bring it on!

I’d rather us bring the 45 metre arc back but not actually change it to 45 metres so a lot of their kicks on the run would fall short just because they’d take a little off the kick.

Or deluded? Why not just say we were not good enough and the Swans were?

I'm not too nervous thinking about our next game. The Pies, their supporters, De Goey (if he returns from his Bali training camp in time ...) don't scare me. Our best equates to a win. If we don't play our best, we don't progress to the GF and we don't deserve to be in it. It's as simple as that.

It wasn't too long ago that we weren't playing finals, so I'm grateful we are in this position.

I have heard from an unreliable source that both Mihochek and Maynard are not training with the main group. Mihochek has a knee issue and Maynard has a groin problem. He says both have been reported both on Fox and in papers although I have failed to find these sources. Is there anyone who has any further news?

I always worry about such players because they tend to be the ones that are most desperate on game day.

I think you’re right. Most of the pies will have played at the scg on multiple occasions

I suspect even if it's true it's not unusual.

Maynard apparently tweaked his groin a bit in the first quarter on the weekend - it was mentioned during the coverage - and played out the game well.

Horse kinda indicated yesterday Ollie hadn't been a major part of the big hit out on Saturday, but will be part of the training runs this week.

Time to provide my thoughts and hopes.

Feel that their talls (and Mids) are slightly better than ours. Not overly worried about this as we normally do not exceed from our center clearances. We usually cover any midfield dominance with match play around the ground. Priority one would be to slow their clearance and allow our backs to do their thing. Use the ball effectively when we do win the clearances.

Defensively we have solid unit. Just need to keep their smalls out of the game and let the pressure rise.

Pies backs are organised, however not as good as Melbourne typically. Therefore I expect a better yield from our forwards from our game against the Dees. Hoping Heeney and Buddy get some space and kick straight. Paps will give them headache's and be pumped.

Expect that the Pie will come out hard, and try and get a score on the board early. This will be to try and take the crowd out of the game. Suspect a 60 (Swans) - 40 (Pies) split in support. They will be noisy!! As Swans supporters those who are lucky to attend will need to be loud and proud!! I will be in full voice. :-)

Our interchange team are solid and wouldn't be surprised to see Joey on as the medical sub.

It will be a full on arm wrestle all game as they will not give up. Trust the week off will give us 5% edge we will need to be in front at the last siren.

Keep out of any wrestling when the aggression is high. Focus on footy

Keep to the game plan and believe in the tempo style of footy we play. 110% effort all game and take our chances when it is our turn!

                              Go Swans

Surprised at the odds being offered for this game which I reckon is only slightly in our favour, $3.05 for the Pies seems generous to me.

Think it will be a close game, hopefully it's a dry track.
