Rule changes don’t count / are wrong if they negatively impact big Melbourne clubs. I’m just glad we don’t have to listen to the former Pies president anymore.

Still can't see why Jmac had that mark taken off him. By the way he found form in a big way.

Also loved the way Braeden Campbell had a red hot go.

Also on SEN today they said we shut up shop in the last quarter. I don't agree. We had our chances to seal it and looked to always move the ball forward. May be the last couple of minutes we did. A couple of crucial errors let them in. Gulden's hooked kick to Quaynor and Heeney's brain fade after he took a mark. He didn't need to play on quickly and slipped over.
Braeden was good. Although there was a moment moving forward in the last when he handballed to Buddy under pressure out of instinctive deference rather than using his prodigious boot to fire it deep inside 50. A learning experience.

I screamed at him at that moment too!

(But some of the fault was with Bud calling for the ball rather than directing Campbell to kick it long, or even have a shot on goal. )

I imagine there's an entire unit in the Longmire curriculum on when to ignore Buddy's calls for the ball.

That comment has a Ludwig-esque flavour, which is high praise.

He did seem a bit off the pace, but it will be invaluable experience for him if he is the medical sub this weekend, and in his future career.

FWIW, I thought it was no coincidence that McInerney's best game for a while coincided with that the re-emergence of the hint of a mullet tail. May it sprout greatly this week.

                  Yes . Thanks. A shame.

                  [QUOTE=dejavoodoo44;857737]Coaches votes for the game.

                  8 Jack Crisp (COLL)
                  8 Callum Mills (SYD)
                  5 Luke Parker (SYD)
                  3 Tom Papley (SYD)
                  3 Scott Pendlebury (COLL)
                  2 Darcy Moore (COLL)
                  1 Lance Franklin (SYD)

Bit surprised that Errol didn't get a few votes, since Channel 7 gave him their MVP award. Then again, despite his excellent last quarter, I was a bit surprised that they did that.

Totally agree about Crisp. He smashed us. Very surprised that Hickey did not rate.Thought he was terrific..again.

I didn’t notice it. Will look closely on Saturday.

Did you see what’s happened to Mitch Robinson after they cut off his rat tail?

2nd quarter. No replays during coverage. Forgotten incident amongst all the garbage about poor umpiring decisions. There were 10 hands in the back by the Pies - not one paid (& that was just in the 1st quarter).

Heeney being tackled from behind when going for a mark 20m in front of goal was one of the poorer non-decisions. Last qtr I think.

"Hands in the back" is not a free kick and hasn't been for several years now.

I’m so fed up with the ignorance of commentators, professional and amateur, who clearly don’t understand the 2019 significant rule change re hands in back.
Was it just me, or was Cox falling in the back of Mills (leading directly to Elliot’s 1st goal) a more blatant free kick? That was a “great play” according to commentary.

This is why the commentary of 'one' decision is so stupid. There are a hundred during the game that could be easily called. Take the last two minutes - in the play on the wing just before Bud takes his relieving mark, Ginnivan is literally sitting on Paps with his two knees in his back; with about 50s to go when Collingwood clear the ball from the throw in at their half back flank, Crisp is tackled by Rowie and Parker and should have been called HTB; and even at the last ball up with 15 secs to go, Chad is dragged off a play at the ball by Ginnivan.

I'm sure if we wind back further there were plenty of other non or close calls either way. The focus on the Papley one is just Melbourne media mafia being Melbourne media mafia.

If you want to send him a little present before the grand final, you better get a move on.

So I assume that it was for high contact. Absolutely minimal force, and nothing like the unpunished mauling that Buddy copped pretty well every time he went near the ball. The blocking, the grabbing, the front on contact and the genuine whacks to the head.
Absolutely. Buddy got smacked in the mouth twice during the game in marking contests, mauled when contesting Hickey's last quarter kick into the 50 and other contests.....gets nothing. I was talking to a Magpie fan at work today about the umpiring and all he wanted to talk about was Papley's supposed push in the back on Moore and claiming they were robbed. I reminded him of all the non paid frees that were to Collingwood's advantage but he would have none of it. I just said "Well, we all see things from our own teams point of view, which is just what your doing at the moment". He walked off. Typical.
