Had anoither look at tv this morning. We ran over the time in our bid for 17 or whatever and then picked Rowston who we lost,Think our team got rattled when dons kept 4 and we had to be the first to live trade in draft. for mw agrre with cruiser complete disaster. Believe recruiters should tell us why they behaved this way and why they eventually picked JK. After all its us supporters who have to pay for membership. Still cant understand why 2 future picks are better, wurely a bird in the hand is best. Whyfrig around. Are there any more midgets available.

I don't see what the issue is. Simon and Kinnear made it clear they would take the best player available. They had ample opportunity to take others, but didn't. Clearly they rate Konstanty over Allan and co.The managers always do a wrap after the draft, so I'd wait until it's over to get the explanation.Had anoither look at tv this morning. FWIW there are some who would find your language derogatory. Be better. Clean it up.Comment

For the negative Nellies, plenty of BF posters are applauding our work last night. It has been confirmed by a Hawks tweet that it's their own second and third we picked up. Death riding the Dees worked this season, let's hope we can death ride the Hawks into a low finish next season, hope we play them twice LOL
We didn't run over time, we'd put our bid in, it was the AFL taking their time loading up the bid into their system. You see it all the time, clubs fold their arms, it's some time before the dinger goes off and the AFL dude appears like God to announce X have selected Joe Blogs from the Drouin Flyers.
This time next year the complainers will forget about slipping back 9 spots when we are loaded with 2023 picks. Remember list builds are a long game and not won on a couple of nights in one year.Last edited by 707; 29 November 2022, 07:01 AM.Comment

Why on earth should the recruiters have to explain themselves for doing their job?Had anoither look at tv this morning. 2023 Draft
I think you need to go back to the pre draft period when the Swans recruiting team stated all along the top 10 in this year’s draft really stood out, and for this reason they made serious attempts without success to trade up using the two first round picks. Unfortunately there were no takers.Had anoither look at tv this morning. I also suspect with the pending retirement of Buddy at the end on 2023, the club is positioning itself to make a serious play for an “ superstar “ replacement in the 2023 draft, hence the trade out of pick 16. I think you will find we draft a ruckman / key forward with pick 27.

While I would have loved for us to get Allan , absolutely stoked with the outcome on the first night.
Konstanty a Papley clone. Would be an instant upgrade on Clarke from the GF team and is an area since delisting Bell and Ronke we are a bit light on .Obviously won’t be ready straight away but he is exactly the type of player the swans love . The pressure forward who can kick goals is a massive part of the modern game .
We have picked up some handy picks for next year in the so called super draft . We have two Academy boys that are tracking nicely so we have added a lot of flexibility for next year . Big tick
Pick 27 should give us a pretty handy player as there is some potential still left on the board

Glad we bid on Rowston to make GWS cough up - he shouldn't be a free hit for them. He's a Riverina boy (Griffith Swans no less) who went to Assumption College, so hardly a case of GWS being rewarded for developing new talent in western Sydney. Hope it annoyed them.
The Crows one did seem a bit of a backhander but you don't bid on these players unless you're 100% ready to take them, so we obviously rated them.
I too wouldn't be surprised if the AFL conjures up a new rule change as a result of our clever actions last night.Comment

Rowston was never ours to have in the first place, so we didn’t lose him. And other clubs should bid on players such as Rowston and Michalanney to ensure that the club that wants them (via an academy or father/son) pay the appropriate price instead of letting them slide. If they slide it’s a bonus, but it shouldn’t be expected.
The Swans are a professionally run organisation. They are not answerable to you, supporters or members. They make their decisions based (rightly or wrongly) on their perceptions of the best interests of the club. Sometimes they get it wrong. More often they get it right.
Supporters don’t have to pay for anything. We choose to.
Points-wise it’s significantly better next year when the draft depth is stronger and we’re more likely to get better players in the second and 3rd round. We’re also more likely to require points for our own academy kids. We knew we didn’t have any we wanted this year. I expect that we know there are ones we want next year.
The draft and recruiting is no longer about instant gratification - it’s as much about future planning as it is about who you take on the day. Good list managers are now worth their weight in platinum.
And it only takes second to check your spelling, punctuation and grammar. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But it’s not much fun having to use google translate to comprehend your rant.Comment

Two things:
* Have we established if the future second round from the Hawks is tied to them, or the one they had from Carlton. If it’s the one from the Hawks, it’s the deal of the century. If it’s the one from Carlton, it’s still excellent. If the former, that notionally gives us 17, 25, 36, 44 and 55. That gives us a lot of license to get creative. If the right player was still on the board this year, we could even use on of those to trade back in above our third pick and trade it out.
* I can’t remember his name, but the draft dude on Kayo last night was saying Konstanty - along with all his other obvious attributes - has some Jamie Elliott about him as a lead and mark player for his height. A nice bit of cream on top.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Konstanty was top 10 in double foot vert jump and top 10 agility from memory
70cm but he also appears to have a long arm reach for his height which even makes him a tougher match up
his into the pack for his height video shorts were very very strong"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I think you're in the minority of paying members who are unhappy. Most of the stuff I've heard and read has been positive. In regards to "midgets" I hope we pick up Jed Hagan too.Comment

By the way, based on the metrics of the Melbourne media used during draft and trade periods - which is headline-generation and action - we 'won' draft night.
TWO bids!
One BIG pick swap!
Crafty move on GWS - adding to the cross town rivalry!
Payback for Dawson!
Movement, chaos and drama!!!!!'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Agree we are due to bring in a biggish fish, if not a superstar.I think you need to go back to the pre draft period when the Swans recruiting team stated all along the top 10 in this year’s draft really stood out, and for this reason they made serious attempts without success to trade up using the two first round picks. Welcome to the Swans Konstanty!!! Amazing to think he only started playing footy 3 years ago when he was sounded out by the local Drouin footy club as they were short on players. Was a promising soccer junior. Can already hear the commentators referencing that in future, as they currently do ad nauseam with Pendulbery's basketball background!Comment
