Cannot believe what you are saying. Have been to many Grand Finals and without doubt Robbie Williams was way and above any previous pre match entertainment at a Grand Final. Well done by the AFL.
Match thread. THE GRAND FINAL!!! Swans v Cats.

I'm with Royboy. The side is a good one. We just need to do a few things better like recognizing that young and old players will need to be rested at certain times and we need to spread the load better. I wonder where the swans sit on the list of number of players played in a season..Comment

There is also plenty of room for improvement and natural growth of our younger players.Comment

Geelong were humiliated just last year in a prelim by 83 pts and won the GF a year later. As I said, stuff history.Comment

It was such an unusual result, something must have been up in the swans camp.
I know grand finals can blow out because once a team can't win, the give up a bit, and the team winning is riding a massive shot of euphoria. But we're we blown out of the game by 1/4 time. Totally against all expected form.
Something was up.
A real thorough review of our grand final prep needs to be done, and general season planning to be at maximum performance in September.
I fit ain't broke, don't fix it.
Also agree with your last sentence.Comment

A bit off topic but . . . I finally caught a bit of Robbie William's pre game (must have been off having a nervous moment on Saturday).
What a flabby, mail it in, half-arsed performance. Can't believe Gil paid $1m+ for that. My wife's 70s cover band would give it more of a serious shake.
I'm not a Williams fan but I thought he was great. The crowd thought so too.Comment

Stuff history.....we are talking about the Swans. We were back in a GF two years after a 64 point GF humiliation in 2014.....and we would have won that GF with decent umpires.

Maybe reasons rather than excuses?
Regardless, your main solutions seem to be to get rid of one of our most consistent and embedded midfielders, and to introduce two youngsters untried at this level?
This to a side that won 18 games and, against the odds, made a grand final.
I see a developing side that exceeded expectations in 2022, and which will excite us and further develop in 2023/4.
However he'll never admit it and wonder "if we were watching the same game...".

We had overflowing crowds before this yank style garbage began. Let's play the under 18 game at 9am, followed by the VFL Grand Final, then the main game. At half time have the little leaguers and give some quiet time for people in the crowd to talk among themselves. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Pigs. I saw him 15 years ago at his peak and he was great. His voice is shot, he needed to be surrounded by a hundred dancers and Delta to make him look good, he could barely bust a move, and handed off half the singing to the crowd. Our midfield had more energy.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

I say get rid of ALL pre-game and half time "entertainment." If people need that to buy a ticket then let them stay home, there's plenty of proper football supporters who'd take their ticket. If Channel Seven want the entertainment to fill in their programming let them pay for it and hold it at Rod Laver Arena or the back of Bourke for that matter.

Exactly! No matter how much TB bangs on about it, Rowbottom will be entrenched in that midfield from round 1 next year (and many more going forward), and was also one of the few that could hold his head high in that horror first quarter as he tried his best against a primed veteran side!
However he'll never admit it and wonder "if we were watching the same game...".
