I asked 'you're point?' because I thought your question was regarding my post that you had quoted. My bad I guess.

My thoughts on the game still stand as stated in my last post. I have no idea why we played the way we did but I think some hints were shown in the way we finished the Prelim against Collingwood. Knackered. That coupled with the enormity of the occasion and the pressure of the actual game suddenly cast us as the deers in the Cats headlights. The boys just seemed to get overwhelmed....then they saw Reid go off and it was game over mentally I reckon.

A lot to work on in the off season but confident they'll grow a lot and go into next season with renewed vigour and intelligence.

True . It was over once we started moving magnets around , thats a win for Cats . Heeney in mids , Errol on last line of defence, McLean rucking , Mills down back . These are all break glass moves we didnt want to make , they made us, and it just made them stronger

Let’s move on, we can’t change the result and having a go at each other is futile.

The boys are feeling awful as it is. Be grateful that none of us are in their shoes.

Let’s not lower ourselves to the level that most pies supporters are at currently. They have quite simply been vile. The Geelong supporters have been gracious in victory, a vast & civilised difference compared to some other clubs.

Take care everyone, stay safe, see you all next year
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Just at the airport and Hayward and T McCartin just rolled up to the gate.

Unsurprisingly they’re not in swans colors abs are looking very sorry for themselves.

I am not surprised they let a lot of people down. The more I think about it, the more I believe it has to be fatigue. Its like the stopped playing about 1/2 way through the third quarter against Collingwood to end of the game yesterday. But why were they fatigued?

Yes, they owe you and many others big time. They deserve the public castigation but anonymous people who don’t know them and who they don’t know. They were very disappointing. But not nearly as disappointing as the supporters who are sinking a boot in to the team they so called support.

I have an inkling that Heeney has been playing injured. For about the last 6 matches he appears to have played a lot less on the ball. Also it would be worth making Papley into a midfielder. Sure he has taken some centre bounces, but yesterday had added spark in the 2nd quarter when he went onto the ball. I sometimes wonder whether we are short on versatility. Geelong are loaded with players that can play a number of roles.

It would not surprise me at all about Heeney. He has been well down from his best in recent weeks.

I like the hybrid midfield/small forward role Papley plays now.

We could however use another good small forward to allow that to be a continued approach for Papley. Your point about versatility is an important one, and we lose a lot when he is not in the forward line (not that it mattered yesterday given how badly we were smashed in the midfield).

Yes but for most people, the type of venting we are witnessing here is gone by the time they grow out of nappies.

Yep totally agree. People are hurting and there is nothing wrong with them questioning things and having an opinion.

I agree with the suggestion that match fatigue had a part to play in our disappointing performance. We forget that about half the team playing were aged 23 and under and it must have been a long year for Paddy McC too. This made the load on the few seniors so much greater. We were monstered and bullied by taller and stronger opponents, shades of the Hawks in 2014. They broke through our tackles time and time again and out marked us. In the end some of our players were putting their bodies on the line but were just pushed aside. Hickey was worn down and I thought Bud up the ground at one time was really helpful, a tall, strong body but then vanished into the forward line where the ball hardly reached. The biggest mistake of course was playing Reid, but did we have anyone to take his place that would have made a difference?

Hopefully, as a team they will quickly pick themselves up and take up the challenge of getting back there next year, stronger and wiser. I hope the coaches can a foster a steely resolve before they disperse.
