2016 hurts the least for me, because at least we played pretty well and had something to cheer for. We got shafted by the umpires, but I'm not certain we would have won anyway. We weren't awesome.
Yesterday was the worst. At least as abject as 2014, but @@@@tier because it was a nightmare relived. Like Neil, I hadn't really countenanced that we could be so bad again. I actually thought we'd win. Maybe the players did too. It's hard to believe it could happen again. But only five players yesterday played in 2014, and John.
I really like John and he's an excellent coach, but his grand final record is bad and holding him back from being great. Ultimately, this is, in large part, his responsibility, and his words during the press conference suggests he feels that. In the 2014 press conference he was prickly; in yesterday's the failure hung heavily.
