Looks like we are now turning our attention to Doedee . I don’t mind this the guy can seriously play , the risk is he has done two knees now , but so has Lever and we would take him in a heartbeat . We can allow him plenty of time to get it right with Potentially Melican , Arnold and Reid as cover .
Also supposedly front runners for Jordan .
So potential ins that we have heard of
Grundy
Jordan
Doedee

Mmmm . . . with those videos, I see a bloke whose kicking skills are average, and often gives off to a teammate under pressure.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

VFL Showreel, R1: James Jordon highlights
Also means we could have Jmac more on the wing and Jordon HBF or vica a versa
We need more genuine talent to make out 22 more like 26 at least that are blowtorching to be in the team - not just a fill in for injuriesComment

Can I have some insights into the AFL decisions on compensation to Clubs?
In particular McKay: a free agent which seems to me means he can decide what he does or where he goes. Why does that give North Melbourne any compensation?
I get that their 18 wins from 84 games (or whatever) may qualify for some "equalisation" benefit, but that is seperate to McKay and free agent compensation.Comment

The greater rort would be any equalisation benefit. Norf have had consistent access to the top end of the draft, but poor player development and the coaching merry go round has stuffed them. They are now also letting McKay walk to claim pick three - meaning they will have no tall defender left - and seem intent on letting Goldstein go, despite him still probably being in the top 10 rucks in the comp. It's just a recipe for a further consolidation of their misery.
The AFL should tell them to go jump on things like priority access to Sanders, or being granted pick 11. They'll get a full season of coaching out of Clarko, have plenty of good youngsters as it is, and will get pick 3 for McKay. They should sort themselves out before they're given another handout. Equalisation has merit, but there's also a point at which clubs need to take responsibility for their own fate.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Doedee at 187cm is actually shorter than the Great Dane. So if the report about Doedee is accurate, I guess that means we can't see anyone else with similar capabilities to Barass / McKay - and have decided that covering one of the two roles is better than neither.Comment

If he has regained fitness, Sammy will be re-signed for 1 year. Great value down back as he has shown and can then be swung forward or in the ruck if needed. May not get a full season but when fit just about our best big man! Love Sammy except when kicking for goal- I usually look away!Comment

Rather see Amartey developed into a KPD, he is quick, reads the play and can take a good mark.
That would give a forward six of:
McDonald, McLean, Heeney, Papley, Parker and Wicks (or whoever we can develop as pressure forward)spriteComment

I was also tying to find the reserves high lights of McInerney, BJ and Wicks when they had to go back for significant periods and relearn their trade before getting back into the Snr team - not immune either our young swans
But I couldn’t find any ????
At least Melbourne FC video highlight there emerging important players in the VFL ????
Mate I totally get it. We want better but we have a budget, trade challenges Re picks and limitations on who actually wants to come to Sydney.
Our 3 boys mentioned above never had a straight line in their development. Back and forth Snrs and ressies
McInerney 72 games over 5 seasons
Jordon 65 games over 5 seasons
Wicks 50 games over 4 seasons
BJ 48 games over 3 seasons
I think we could make a pretty strong argument that Melbourne have been a red hot team last 4 years to break into as a midfielder or HBF
Like very hard and in amongst this era Jordon still achieved 65 games
No he might not be an answer for us not I’m sure we are looking at similar value players to fill some of our gaps in the midfield / HBF and contested footy"be tough, only when it gets tough"

The reason I prefer McLean to Amartey for a switch to defence is that McLean has a big tank, while Amartey struggles to play out games well. Key forwards these days could run Amartey off his legs late in games. In any case, Amartey will have to improve his aerobic capacity to become more effective in the 2nd halves of games.
I'm just as bewildered by the discussion on Jordan as I was with the Matt Crouch recruitment chatter. The question remains: Where do they fit in the side? Who do they replace? We still need to find a spot for Sheldrick in the side that just played finals. Roberts, Corey Warner and HHK will all be looking to break into a young side with player still on the improve. We will also add Cleary to our list of inside mids. Do we really need more competition for midfield spots?Comment

Yes on both players. I think that's the way to go if we don't get McKay, which looks to be the case now.
