Could be wrong but reckon he has been more accurate with us than the Hawks. Lucky for us at the time he kicked 3.5 and one out of bounds in 2012 GF. One goal he kicked was an absolute monster on the rum.

He acknowledges that we didn't play great but I reckon he is fuming inside about the maggots in yellow and it's not like it hasn't happened before FFS.
I seen many replays of the Rampe free kick and I am still completely mystified. Been following the game for many years and I still don't understand the rules.

I know there is a fair bit of Buddy bashing but he got a whole 12 points in Supercoach which is totally unacceptable for any player who plays a full game. To make matters worse, Jordan Dawson got 173 points.

I think you need to put this in perspective.

Aliir was a tactical move because we were desperate for a ruckman. He did not want to leave the club.

Nank was a decision between he and Naismith. At the time based on the potential ability between the two it was probably the right call. Nankervis had told the club he wanted to play senior football, and Naismith was taller and had demonstrated greater potential. Hindsight is a great thing.

Cameron we can put down to mistake, was always injured, and at the time lacked consistency. We must remember big players take longer to develop.

Dawson did the “dirty” on the Swans, having made commitments, and then changing his mind without good reason, leaving the club leaving the club in a no win situation .

Mitchell was only ever interested in the money from day one.

Heweet never wanted to leave the Swans, and was moved on to make way for an emerging group of young midfielder’s including Mills, Rowbottom, Warner, Dawson, Gulden, Campbell etc., and retain the likes of Parker. Had Dawson been honest with the Swans I have no doubt Heweet would still be there.

Whilst talking about list management losses that hurt us…

We also lost Mummy due to Franklin and probably Tippett (lack of funds, and the Swans probably knew a couple of years out he was coming our way), Membrey due to lack of opportunity and the one that I think hurt us the most recently - Hewett.

I say this because we also had JPK retire, and Rowbottom was amongst our bottom six for a large part of last year (though the coaches think otherwise as he finished 3rd in the club champion award) and we continue to get smashed in the middle this year.

The main issue going forward is that Buddy is not like Goodes. Adam was a team first player. With Buddy it is, and always has been, all about him.

No chance he will make it easy and play VFL or retire.

Time to see what Horse is made of and can he make the really hard decisions.

Hewitt got a 3yr deal, he had been out with back issues and we wished him well.

Mummy, people always get this wrong.
1, had a big money offer from a salary cap bloated expansion team
2, Subbed out of GF with a Hammy
3, Outplayed all year by a Canadian ruck on a qtr of what he ended up getting paid.
4, Pyke kicked 28 goals as a ruck in 2013 alongside Mummy.

Dawson went home for the same money offer, we were over him last year when we won 10 games on the way to a GF but now he is a gaping hole in the squad

Buddy needs a rest and concentrate on training to get his fitness up. In other words, “managed” for a week or two. There is no point in him playing on the best defender if he is going to be not only well beaten, but the defender also runs off him. What follows is that natural frustration sets in and then Buddy gives away numerous frees which then make things worse. When either Amartey or McLean are on the best defender, our guys know they need to look for other options a lot of the time and so our attacks are less predictable.

Buddy should only play upfront when he can at least be capable of breaking even with his opponent for the benefit of the team.

The commentators were also mystified by the Rampe free.

I have to disagree about him not being a team player. In 2020 when we were in the hubs and he was ruled out for the remainder of the season, he could have gone home to be with his child and pregnant wife. Instead he stayed on to help mentor the younger players.

Agree. Acute football brain and has created numerous goals for team mates. Nonsense to suggest he is not a team player.

I spluttered in disbelief when I read that comment about Franklin not being a team player. But there's been a lot in this thread that has made me splutter.

                                Coaches' votes are out.

Coaches' votes, R4: 'Package' delivers perfect 10, young gun in front

                                9 Chad Warner (SYD)
                                7 Aliir Aliir (PORT)
                                7 Oliver Florent (SYD)
                                5 Zak Butters (PORT)
                                1 Xavier Duursma (PORT)
                                1 Jeremy Finlayson (PORT)

It's often hard to guess which coach gave which votes, but in this case I am pretty confident Longmire gave his 5 to Florent, 4 to Warner and 3 to Aliir. Hinkley 2, 5, 4 to those players respectively. That's just based on Longmire's comments on Florent in his post-match conference.
