We need brothers in our team selection - Another Warner to debut. No mention of Gould .....??
- Update -
There were posts on Twitter that both Gould Francis could not complete training this week and have been ruled out.
My guess is both sides are going to go with a truckload of run given injuries to KPPs. *If* the above re Gould and Francis proves true and Richmond play Sansom, Reiwoldt and a third tall (ie Balta forward) the Lizard will simply need to strap up. He’s very good in the contest and aerially these days, so I have faith he can do a job if needed alongside Rampe and Fox. The hard match up will then be Martin. But it possible they only play two talls as well.
It would deprive us of some run, but that’s all the more reason to introduce someone like Warner.

I suspect this means one of the following is out: Cunningham, McInerney or Stephens (least likely)?.
Think Campbell is safe as the other three have had more games where there impact has been questioned.

Update: No Gould or Francis either… who is going to play with Rampe as a tall? Almartey down back and McLean forward?.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

FoxSports reporting:
'The absence of both McCartins has been compounded by injury issues for backup defenders Aaron Francis and Will Gould who didn’t finish training on the weekend.'
Longmire did a press conference this afternoon; should be helpful, once it goes up online.Comment

Here is a link to the press conference:

Longmire:
- indicated Gould had a sore foot and Francis a tight hamstring during training on the weekend. He did not sound confident that either would play.
- was much more enthusiastic about Roberts playing than Sheldrick, having been asked directly about both. Mentioned selecting for need, Roberts having ability play half-back and Blakey having ability to play tall. Deductions available to be made there.
- said McLean would come in for Franklin.Comment

I looked at tx sales for Gather Round on Ticketek.
Our match heavily booked, Collingwood match just a few tx left. Crows & Port matches sold out. Didn’t check the rest.
Adelaide footy supporters are certainly swinging behind Gather Round and there must be a lot of tourists arriving.
Looks like the place will be jumping! Do hope the rain doesn’t spoil the party.Comment

While I love a debut, I don't really get the Corey Warner debut this week... In our 2 VFL games he hasn't exactly set the world on fire stat's wise (if you compare him against say a Sheldrick) so it's a bit of a surprise for me.
Hope he plays a blinder though!

Based on Longmire’s answers it would seem that Roberts will also play but not Sheldrick. I wonder if Corey will debut as the sub. Not the ideal way to debut but beggars can’t be choosers.Comment

Heard Brad Johnson last evening quoting stat that Buddy is the most targeted forward of any club so far this season, with only a net of 4 goals (not sure if this took his R2 suspension into consideration).
He added our forward 50 efficiency which was our strength last season has so far been our weakness. Citing opposition are placing pressure on our midfield, forcing them to do long dump kicks into the foward line instead of fast precision passes. Heeney & Hayward also being down on their output compared to last season.
He also quoted stats showing we're more unpredictable when Buddy isn't playing (Logan McDonald being the main beneficiary) and that we'll need to restructure Buddy's forward role when he returns.Comment

For all we know, Sheldrick might also be injured. Being injured and making the injury list are seemingly separate matters. The Swans' injury list is a complete sham. I don't know what the AFL rules are concerning intent to issue accurate statements and reports on injuries, but the penalties can't be too harsh, else the Swans' would be in serious trouble.
We are not the only team with injury problems, but things are not looking good for the Swans this year. Just when things looked like they were falling into place, they now seem to be falling apart. It just may be one of those years. Conversely, opportunities open up and talent uncovered. Injuries seem to have been beneficial for the Saints this year, so far. The biggest factor in the AFL is luck, including the misfortune of being a team from a city not located in state of Victoria.Comment

I guess the coaches decided they wanted another speedy outside player this week (or they are dissatisfied with one or more currently in the team, or one of those already in the team has an injury that we're not yet aware of). If they want to change up the inside mix, it sounds like Roberts has his nose in front of Sheldrick at the moment.Comment
