Commentators talking us up but the reality is now with the injuries we have and the form we’ve shown, finals are a pipedream

Let's face reality. We are not a very good footy team. In fact we aren't even a good side. We are entering 1990's territory here with this lot. We could end up bottom of the ladder they way we are playing.

It's not just the players though. The coaching is really bad
We are still trying to play as though we have Tony Lockett at FF.? Echo beach bombs away in time. Just disastrous. If you are a Swans forward at the moment you would be asking for a clearance to anywhere but Sydney Swans. Even North would be better.

We will lose McDonald. You can see he is not only frustrated with the delivery, he is frustrated with the coaching and with Bud being the primary focus when he's clearly finished. We need to move on from Bud. Horse is living in the past. They guy is cooked. He's been the best player the AFL has ever seen but that was yesterday. He's now Yesterday's Hero

              Nope, injuries are the problem

Season over. Bring in as many kids as possible for experience. Bud has to go. He’s no longer doing anything for us.

The loss was the best thing for us. This season was already gone. It's about trying to salvage the 2024 season now. Hopefully Longmire sees it that way as well.

We will lose Mills and McDonald to injury to put another crushing blow to this year.

Buddy should play the rest of the season in the VFL where he can help our young players. He's useless at AFL level.

We should put Tom McCartin on ice for the season. One more concussion and it's definitely over for him as well. Let's see if e can get him the the 2024 season and hope for the best.

Francis and Gould are not AFL level key defenders, but can be useful. Let's play them through the season and get them in the best condition for next year. We are going to need help down back.

I think the forward line is OK, but with McDonald getting injured, it lost a lot of power. The backline is shot to pieces. We basically don't have one. So, we are losing. Buddy is a great player and will play out the year, as he should. He is not the worst of our problems.

We took a punt on Paddy McCartin and perhaps we should not have done that? But that's hindsight. We need a good back man, such as Alir, we don't have one. Personally I'd say that should be our main task next year. That and hanging on to our young players especially Logan.

Our players are young, very young- we need to hold on to them, because in the next few years they will be outstanding players. But we need some good backs- any coming through?

While we have been pretty ordinary, injuries are the thing that has killed us this year. We made the Grand Final just last year remember with a relatively stable side with minimal injuries.

I agree with your Buddy assessment though and am praying we don't lose McDonald as that would be an absolute disaster for our current list profile!

I don't agree with losing Buddy- playing young players with somebody as experienced as Bud will be an advantage for everybody.

I don't think he has been playing that badly, we just have really high expectations of him.

                            Positives

                            Errol
                            Parker
                            Hickey’s back
Francis showed a bit but isn’t a true KPD
High draft pick coming our way (assuming we don’t waste another one)

                            Negatives

More injuries although I suspect we would’ve lost today even with Mills and McDonald
Nothing in the VFL to come up, they were horrible today
Sheather and to a lesser extent Gould didn’t show much, Sheather in particular looks well out of his depth at this level
Buddy is terrible and has a hugely negative impact on the team
Hard to judge the game day coaching today, but we’ve looked like an unprofessional and unmotivated outfit at both levels this season

Buddy has been terrible. We would be better playing a man short than having him on the ground. He's not going to be playing next year. He can do nothing but hurt us by playing this year.

I saw a comment in the VFL thread around Oscar McDonald as a possible mid season pick? I really hope there are some other key position players available as we need some and don't think McDonald is the answer long term.
