I gotta say, Gus Sheldrick would want to become one hell of a player, otherwise our recruiters should hand in their resignations, because Jacob Van Rooyen would look pretty good and Red and White at the moment...

Any team’s accuracy would be extreme when you take into consideration where the shots are being taken, viz; the majority straight in front of the goals.
The loss of defenders has really hurt this season.

This season is done, we’re not going to come back from the position we’re in with the injuries we’ve got

Unfortunately we’re not going to win the wooden spoon and have Harley Reid in the red and white next year, we’re nowhere near that bad

We need to use 2023 as a development year now which means giving opportunities to players that we normally wouldn’t, Campbell in the middle instead of the back pocket was a good example of it, hopefully that kind of thinking continues

Out off season is going to be massive though, we either set ourselves up for a real crack at a period of dominance, or we sit on our hands again and do nothing

Even if we can keep our 2 OOC young key forwards (and I’m not certain either are the long term solution). We desperately need some mature KPP talent as well as in the draft

Ratagolea, Himmelberg, TDK should be the targets and if we can get 1 or 2 of those it will set us up for the long term given our emerging midfield talent

Due to the injury toll that the club has copped I have no more aspirations for this season and I don’t want the club to tank, but to give more games to Gould, Francis, Stephens and try McAndrew to get some experience. I also hope that Buddy can get the 4 goals to pass Wade and get that monkey off his back.

It’s possible, but I go for the Melbourne comparison due to the evidence of elite young talent. Port had some very good players and were well coached, but didn’t have the equivalent of Chad, Gulden, Blakey, Campbell, Logan etc coming through. That’s why I’m more optimistic than others - even though I know we have some list holes to fill.

Unfortunately we’re in a massive injury hole this year, so time to put the energies into development.

                Agree.
                Effort was there.
There are moments in games whether it's missed easy shots last week, the Buddy play on today, Sheather not being able to grab that ball cleanly with an open handpass to Buddy, some dodgey decisions.
Freemantle I feel did come with their a game, their best of the year.
Hickey first senior game , 2nd game for the year will be much better for that run next game.
Missing so many key players injured.
2 key injuries during the game.
Confidence perhaps sapped a little at the moment. It's natural.
The season could have been so much better at the moment with key moments impacting.
The key at the moment is to try different things and players, give them game time and just stay in the moment as far keeping the effort up and maybe a few things will go our way. We don't want to lose spirit.
The one thing I would like to see more is something Dermott Brereton mentioned during the game I think it was about Freemantle's Schultz's tackling. There are tackles where you put pressure on and there are tackles where you make them count and really apply them.
We put pressure on in our tackles but it's not effective tackling cutting off movements and really tackling with intent.
It's like tip footy at times a second too late.
                Loved Campbell's game

                  Who would have thoughy
                  Campbell in the middle
                  Francis in defence

Ive bever even been to the scg let alone seen these blokes train

No one loves Bud more then me but when your playing like he is, he may as well be sitting on the bench with headphones on imparting his knowledge

Harley Reid will be begging we dont finish last so he doesnt have to get life membership in the back pocket before a switch to the midfield

Season gone, use the rest of it to help set up 2024.

CBA vacancy now with Mills out, no need to rush him so Sheldrick should play in the middle to see what he's got, lots of games, get him up to senior speed.

Tom McCartin, no rush now, Melican the only replacement for Francis or Gould but just persist.

Amartey, showed too much to be rushed back, long rehab is best.

Bud looks very done but he won't be playing ressies, get him the four goals needed and reassess.

Have a look at HHK against a weak side like Norf.

Choose a young player at the MSD with the hope they can become best 22, Oscar McDonald won't

The club needs to rule a line through 2023, make the correct decisions for the future and use the rest of the season wisely.

Agree with most of this, sometimes you just have to concentrate on the future

The game plan needs to change. Our mids are encouraged to bomb forward to Bud nearly 50% of entries.?This has to stop.

If we play like we did today we will probably get beaten by North. We were dreadful. Freo are a middling side. We are a bottom side. So many injuries. Why? Lack of fitness that's why.

Horse said other players are carrying niggles that normally wouldn't play except we've got so many other injuries.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.
