Round 10: the other games. Doug Nicholls round (part 1).
Spectacular opening to the Dreatime At The 'G game tonight.....bloody fantastic. Crowd loved it. The Sir Doug Nicholls Round grows in stature every year.
Not sure how I feel about this game. On the one hand, I'm a bit over the AFL media's love affair with Collingwood. On the other hand, I sort of hope that they give Carlton such a thrashing, that their confidence will be shot before our clash with them next Friday. Also, while I can see that it might be wrong to hope for injuries, I'm not sure if that applies to wishing for the sort of spiteful clash, that would lead to multiple suspensions.
Meanwhile, a clear frontrunner has emerged for the wooden spoon. The Eagles lost by 116 points to Hawthorn, who were on the bottom of the ladder prior to the match. I do not see West Coast winning another game this year.
"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi final

To lose to the Hawks by 116 pts is about as low as you can go....you could be right.
If true, I think it's probably wise that he's made that decision. As a three time premiership coach, he's really got nothing else to prove and it's likely to benefit Richmond if he hands over to someone with more enthusiasm.
And I do respect how he changed his attitude in 2017, from someone who was apparently an obsessive micromanager, driving himself and those around him crazy, to someone who was able to delegate responsibilities, trust those around him a whole lot more, and generally make Richmond an enjoyable place to be.
Good riddance. Never forgiven him for taking the pot shots at us and Horse after the game in 2021 (have I got the year right?) when it was him crowding up the play around the ball.

2020, but he’s always been an “interesting” personality.
He achieved a lot, and can be proud of what gave the Tigers.
Caro is so conflicted. She says the soft cap is the reason he's burnt out. The soft cap is an equalisation measure, so the load on a small club coach is the same as a big club. Hardwick, and Clarkson, finally realise how hard it is to coach when resources are limited.
